Players with old avatar appearances (Post-Incursion) are no longer forced to create a new character and can now have their old appearance returned to them by contacting the GM's via the petition system under the ‘Character Creation & Portraits’ category.

Am I reading this right? I don't think I am...

If, say, Chribba, hadn't created a new portrait, he could have put in a petition (tomorrow) to keep his old classic one...?

Yes, well as I said... it didn't seem right to me. And yet, to be honest, I'm still not completely sure what the deal is here.

Surely, the people with the 'old' portraits were the only people to have a 'forced' change imposed upon them. Anyone updating their portrait 'post-incursion' would, by definition, have the 'new' style anyway, so I guess the source of my confusion is over what CCP thinks 'old' is...

I guess it might make sense to me, if they were saying that people who'd had a forced 'random' portrait applied, could now appeal against it, and get flagged for redesign, but that's not really what it says.

A portrait of mine around that time got flagged as needed to be remade. Maybe its those people CCP are talking about with old portrait, looks like the new ones but for some reason it was flagged as me having to make a new one.

see, and I go to the effort to edit the cache folder's security settings to deny EVE access to reading or writing to the portraits folders. I can't stand looking at the unflavored oatmeal that is the new(ish) portrait system. I'd rather view silhouettes.
