Ignorant Question: Should I Join FW?

I'm looking for advice on how to know whether I should try to jump into FW, carebear for a bit until I have more skills, perhaps start looking into null, etc.. Basically, what are good questions to ask myself what I should try out? I'd like to develop skills in blowing other people up. And perhaps learning to explode with style when I blow up.

Also, if I were to join FW it would be on the CalMil side. Not sure if there are any large CalMil corporations that are friendly to unskilled, low SP people or not.

Many new players find it is a blast. If you can fit t2 mods with decent navigation skills, you might feel more competent enough to adapt after a loss than to be discouraged by it. Leadership and content depends only on how willing you are to learn without fear of failure. Good luck.

So perhaps I should run around in hisec for a month or two until I have a few skills up, do you think?

Any advice on well-respected CalMil people? A quick look over at EveWho made me notice Templis.

I'll just get some skills up and see what I want to do. From the look of it, CalMil has been losing forever now. Maybe I wouldn't want to join that side anyway.

Templis CALSF, Heiian Conglomerate, The Bloc, Dei-Telum, OLD MAN GANG and Enemy Spotted. are the main Caldari Militia alliances.

They all have corps that will accept new players and give them support and training. You might find it best to join the general caldari militia first and then join public fleets run by the various alliances to get a feel for who you'd like to fly with.

FW is fine for a brand new player, but you are going to need a good corp. Itis often hard to find the truly good ones, since so many are full of crap. I would look at a corp in one of the larger alliances and who has a good kill board on battle clinic. From there, pick one of those that say they are new player friendly. However, at you age I would suggest spending time in high sec running missions until you are bored of it.

Just a few pointers,

Null isnt 'end game' - You can make isk in nullsec from day one in eve, just alot more difficult than in highsec. If you think you'd enjoy nullsec, try it.

If you join Faction Warfare i wouls HIGHLY recommend joining a pre-established corporation that can teach you the tricks of the trade. Life is alot easier when you know the meta of the game and have a few people to shoot pointers too and from. Be prepared to lose ships and isk when pvping because it will happen. Last time i tried FW the isk wasn't amazing so dont go in thinking your going to come out stupid rich.

Hope this helps and good luck:)

Well.

Basically when i started i did exploration in hisec until i trained up ok frig skills....about one month.

This gave me a comfy amount of isk which I than spent on exploding my ships with. Since it's easy to keep yourself in frigs in FW's you don't need much isk to start.

Also as other posters said Null isn't an endgame, just a different game. Low Sec pvp is a lot different than Null pvp. I naturally am biased to Low Sec; i really enjoy the amount of options in the activities you can choose. Of course you will have to decide personally what you in particular like.

Templis has a lot of corps and a lot of 'doctine' fits that are new-pilot friendly. Feel free to drop an application in!

Although I hate fighting Templis because of Grimwood and his MacGuyver-esque duct taped WD40 1-mil isk frigate specials. That said, I'm sure you could fit the modules with whatever skills you have and they have lots of guys that you can get advice from. Plus, I highly recommend people join Calmil because I want more faces to blap off when I'm in the mood.

Good luck in your search.

Be a pirate and kill everyone.

If you join FW you will quickly learn that it is full of autistic , self absorbed neckbeards. Calmil less so than Galmil, but the same applies.

You can do quite well in FW with just frigs and it takes only a month to train all racial frig skills to V, opening up max bonuses for all T1, faction and pirate frigs. It's totally doable for a complete novice to join militia and in just a few months be more lethal in a frig than veteran characters.

If you eventually want to fly T2/T3 cruisers and BC/BS, null or wspace will probably call to you at some point but while you're low SP FW is a great stepping stone and you might come to realize you prefer fast, nimble frigs to larger ships and decide to stay anyway.

Yes - jump into the war zone and go for it. It's a opportunity for you to get better at something and to learn. Will it test ur abilities and knowledge of the game - sure thing. I'd suggest finding some war bros and flying with some peeps that have been in this particular part of the sandbox. This will allow you to bounce ideas of of others, get familiar with common tactics, and not feel like the hills are so steep.

Two kinds of people at a dance, wall flowers and dance machines - get off the wall and show me something. Good luck, and see you on the front lines - if in Amarr FW. If in Miniturdom - then it won't be cordial!

FW is generally a nice option for lower SP players.

The main thing to be aware of is, unless you are an expert on modifying your play, and if you want to do everything there is to do in FW, your standings with the opposing faction will go through the floor extremely quickly. So intensely in fact that many who join, for example Gallant FW, will never for the rest of their Eve careers enter Amarr or Caldari space.

This needs to be fixed and was brought up in the last CSM minutes. But for now, don't join FW unless you want to never enter the space of your rival factions ever for the rest of the time you play Eve.
