The time stamp definitely needs to be reverted back to how it was before. Come on, this is a game based in the future with spaceships and computers, it should list the year, day, hour, minutes and seconds of when it was posted.

I hate to say this but having it show "A few minutes ago" or "About an hour ago" or "A day ago" tells me you're doing the same thing to these forums as you're doing to the game, dumbing it down.

DMC

You can see the UTC time by hovering the mouse over the timeago text. The main reason we did this change is because people have hard time figuring out when a post was actually made because of different timezones.
Wow, thanks for the vote of confidence in the forum community intellect.

In my +6 years of being an active member of this forum community I've never once seen anyone complain about it.

By the way, can't copy the actual UTC timestamp when it only shows if the mouse is hovering on it.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

So, let me get this straight.

If I want to view my previous posts, instead of just looking at my profile page I now have to make a fresh post in some random place and then click my name?

On the Eve gate part that still works like before - so you hover over your picture in the upper part in the forums -> Eve Gate Profile and off you go

Edit. hm - i am wrong and you are right - it worked for others but not for myself

Can we get the option back to open Eve universe selections and things like the dev blog link in a new window. Thanks.

If you load the page on the last post useing notifications the return to top arrow does not generate you have to move the page up a little bit first.

Yeah, guess you gotta go to your previously posted reply.

I think the Favorite Topics in the drop down menu is supposed to cover that but it isn't working correctly for me.

Anyway, just wanna say it's great having option to choose forum background again.

One step at a time, right?

just add your name to the end of this URL https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=search&postedby=your name

if your name contains a space, the %20 gets handled by your browser when you hit enter.

Yep, I'm grateful for that - just keeping my fingers crossed that I no longer have to reset it every few days like before!

Why can't we have the actual timestamp of the posts displayed by default and the _____ minutes/hours/days ago displayed in the tooltip? Same information as we have now, just displayed differently.

Due to popular demand we'll be creating another update that will include forum profiles (phase 1.1). On the forum profile you'll be able to see latest 15-20 posts made by user and other useful information.
Hopefully this update will be adequate until phase 2 is released.

We really want to focus on phase 2 that will be introduced soon (complete responsive design, etc).

Great plan.

The go to top arrow also does not show up right away after a post is applied.

I'll discuss it with the team tomorrow. I just really like timeago since it gives me rough time when a post was made, instead of having to look at numbers and figuring it out :) Is there any particular reason why people dislike timeago? Twitter, Facebook and many popular sites use it today.

I like time ago my self. Is there any way to make it so people can choose what way they want it.

In most forums you can chose what times to show actually - if you want the local times of the forums or your local times to be shown. That would solve your riddle and you could keep the 'xxx ago'

  • Link to DEV Blogs added to drop-down under forum settings

I really miss the Dev Blog link at the top. Thank you for providing a link to it somewhere.

Perhaps this is just my perspective, but there are two things I come to the eveonline site for:
1.) Forums
2.) Dev Blogs.

Honestly, I feel like the information released in Dev Blogs is very important information to have easy access too. As such, I feel like the link to take me to Dev Blogs should be blatant and in your face, not hidden under the "character selection" area of the profile. It is very unintuitive to have it located there too!!!! I'd honestly recommend putting it under the EvE Universe menu. I realize it is part of the community pages, but it's such an important part of how CCP disseminates upcoming changes it should have its own selection choice right below (or in place of) the community pages link!

It's not so bad when you're only into minutes and hours, but as the time scale increases, it gets more and more imprecise. I wouldn't say that it bothers me, personally, but I'm the kind of person that likes precision, and the date and time laid out in the full timestamp format is both precise and orderly.

I don't dislike the timeago, but switching it to be the tooltip on mouseover instead of the default display would probably cause less furor! Essentially, the default functionality stays the same, while adding the timeago as an option for people who want to see it. I would definitely use it on early mornings when I can't brain enough to do my own math. Lol

Switching it back to the Date after 48 hours seems like a reasonable thing to do.

Every time I open up the forums on my phone since the change the character select drop down box is on my screen covering up the forums and making me choose my character again and again. I was excited about the change, but this is making me miss the old forum.

Additionally, when I click a link with my finger, there is no way to tell if i clicked the correct link or perhaps the link adjacent to it.

What mobile device, browser and browser version are you using? Did you also encounter the clicking on links problem on the old forums? Please note that this is phase 1 which doesn't include the responsive design, which will be introduced in phase 2.
