Great changes, even better tears.

╰( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )つ──☆ REMOVE JUMP DRIVE

You can't have significant change to nullsec without significant sacrifices being made. From a game mechanics standpoint every single one of these proposed changes makes a whole boatload of sense. Giving up some of the ease of use of our caps in exchange for an enormous nerf to bloc power projection is definitely a sacrifice that we should all be willing to make.

In this moment, I am euphoric.

Tell me whose babies I need to have. This is amazing. Finally a chance to shake up nullsec for the smaller fish in the pond using proper guerrilla tactics.

Except, the big fish will just install a capital fleet in every region, ready to use whenever they need it, the large coalitions/alliances have enough capital (hah, punn) to simply put 500 dreads and carriers in every single low/sec/npc null in eve.

the "smaller fish" won't afford that, so they will still be hell-camped.

So the smaller fish will only have to deal with 500 caps rather than the entire supercap + capfleet. Sounds more manageable to me.

who other then the CFC and NC can field 500 subcaps?

Dunno. But remember that if they do field their 500 man fleet they will be more vulnerable at the other end of their (renter) empire.

Yeah, their home space where all their super capitals are and the people attacking them can't easily move their caps either... totally vulnerable.

EvE has always been a game of strategy, not a quick fix action game.

Pilot's aren't supposed to move/jump large strategic pieces across the gaming board like bunnies on speed.

Strategic assets are supposed to be in their correct position before any move, regardless of it's to attack or defend.

If you find yourself having to spend a ridiculous amount of time to move your ship to where you want to be, then it was in the wrong place to start with.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Okay this capitals/super capitals through gates is just plain silly, please don´t do that.

Also if you were to nerf power projection of capitals this heavily, you will also need gate travel and jump bridges, or you would end up making the blobs even stronger. Capitals/supers are currently a way to fight heavily outnumbered, if you take that ability away, you need to also take away the ability to throw huge subcap blobs around.

Mass limits on gates/jump bridges?

My intuition says that you should put similiar mass limit on gates and jump bridges that currently are in wormholes. Ie. you could not move 5 full battleships fleets through same gate at same time, there would be certain amount of mass that can go through and there would be a timer (like few minutes, possibly depending on system upgrades) that would reset the mass on gate.

This would make it harder to send 1000 guys through gates to single fight, at very least the fleets would need to take different routes to the target or stagger their fleet movements, which would open them up for attacks on the way by smaller forces.

- JF's are not the problem
- Leave JF's out of this "solution" completly

There just isnt any need for this massiv nerf...

I wonder if they new mechanic can distinguish between ship types? Nerf JFs does seem to make null industry more difficult which is a shame.

Wait, hold on a second. CCP wants to nerf power projection, but from their first iteration of player gates (essentially being giant jump bridges with unlimited range) means:

CFC could build a Gate in YA0, and tune it to the gate they constructed in (Let's say F2O)

Now that supers can jump gates as well as capitals, what's to stop us from just poofing EVERY SINGLE SHIP NEEDED in YA0 to F2O instantly, with no way for the server to predict this? Then, when they're in F20, they simply take a safe jump to wherever their final destination is, and then take the route back home.

Are you guys even communicating?

say what you want about the blue donut, but no one will have time for a fight with all the logistics required under the new system.

the economic impact of this change is just astounding...

the creativity of the player base is an amazing force and will likely overcome a large portion of these changes in a mostly reasonable fashion. but still just wow

I was half tempted to pack my bags and leave a few months ago...

But I stuck around with a sliver of hope!

I hope to see many more changes like this towards Nullsec in the near and far future!

AWESOME JOB GUYS!!!

As it makes it harder for entities like PL to drop 40 supers onto a structure bash, ruining all of the fun, I have to applaud this change.

These changes make it no more difficult at all for established entities to accomplish their goals. Well, it makes it more tedious in that the move op has to be scheduled across multiple days -- but with the wonders of Dominion Sovereignty you have several days to react to any given sovereignty dispute due to the way timers work.

This is untrue; any two timers close in time but far in distance will be quite difficult to defend against. Not impossible, especially if you use local forces to defend, but more difficult to bring coalition weight to bear.

Are there workarounds? Sure, there always will be, but it's extremely discouraged.

We successfully managed against Northern and Southern timers simultaneously during the most recent brushfire deployment to Delve wherein about a third of the CFC stayed home in either the North or the South and another third deployed to the West. What you say is absolutely true of less organised, less entrenched entities; but, I was specifically talking about what one of the major blocs can do. Sucks to be a newbie or irrelevant, which is entirely my point.
