I have about 300 active subscriptions, will be keeping all of them.

That's great you will be able to play with yourself in private now...

Seriously? Obvious troll is obvious.

No, I seriously have about 300 active subscriptions. No troll.

Bubble the gates you silly thing.
Or use tacklers.

If someone manages to surprise you with a stargate-jumped carrier then you're being **** at eve.

sooo tl;dr: in this blog, CCP doesn't understand exponential growth?

The maths here are a fundamental part of the design.

It is theoretically possible to compound the fatigue up into years of jump delay with fewer than a dozen actual jumps, simply by not allowing the fatigue to decay between each early jump but rather jumping as soon as possible. After the first few days of decay make little difference because the decay is linear and the increase in fatigue is multiplicative. If you wanted to you could completely incapacitate a character with this, for example selling a titan toon on the bazaar which is disallowed from jumping for years.

Your decay formula needs to be modified to reduce a percentage of the total fatigue per hour, rather than a fixed amount.

Edit: I calculated 6VDT to VFK by Aeon to take a little over 7 months if you jumped as soon as possible each time (obviously it would take less time if you waited for the fatigue to decay to 0 after each first jump).

Reducing fatigue multiplicatively as a general rule works in the wrong direction for what we want - it means high fatigue decays faster than low fatigue, whereas if anything we want the opposite. We may need to introduce some kind of "overtime" decay past a certain point though, to keep it under control.

Just to play Devils Advocate here a bit if you wait out the fatigue timer instead of just the jump timer you can run this exact route in around 14 hours.

Yup, there's a lot of smart optimization opportunities here.

Antoine Jordan wrote:

what are the primary differences between cyno alts not being OK, and jump alts being OK, except that a jump alt requires more than 30 days of training?

a) Jump alts don't scale in a way that makes them actually practicable (one per ship per 10LY), and b) pilots are generally a stronger limiting factor than ships.

I facepalmed consistently while reading this entire thing. So instead of making it rather difficult to respond should space come under attack by foreign forces, you make it take literally hours.

Currently, YA0 to F2O is 57ly, according to dotlan. This route would take... hours.

Also don't just say it like "poof jump fatigue exists now" make some bullshit but thought out excuse like "the wormhole generated by Jump Drives has become less stable as of late, due to heavy previous use"

or some bullshit like that.

Yes, it would take an awful long time. That's intentional.

We're working on weaving these changes into the ongoing narrative.

retardation at his best here ... really low sec doomsday? so messing with lowsec to help 0.0retards?

or you could just :

Reduce titan bridge range
Reduce numbers /mass of ships per bridge....
Titan bridge only if titan more than 50km from station/stargate/Pos...
And for null sec make stations destructible !!! and make dynamic stellar systems ( the star would eventually die someday) and the planets /moons with it.
( you solve 2 problems at once , moon goo dispersion, and renting.

The problems in low sec are mostly the guns on stargates /stations ( i get it for stations but why guns on stargate?

Make FW missions /anomalies only doable in cruisers+size ships and for fw plexes ... remove novices and small plex and let only cruiser size and BC size and BS+ size plex.

And most important thing Reduce or remove titan bridge in low sec (departure and arrival)

But please not this !! you will only allow nullsec blocks to come in lowsec with 5 titans and rollover the place

Just to make sure everyone's aware, doomsdays can't be fired at subcaps.

Changes like this hurt newbies -- both individual players and organisations -- a lot harder than veterans.

Anyone who wishes to can get around these changes by flying interceptors for inter-regional travel, except newbies who don't have it trained. Anyone who wishes to can get around these changes by purchasing more jump freighter alts, except newbies who cannot afford them. Anyone who wises to can get around these changes by staging capitals and/or capital alts in multiple systems, except newbies who cannot afford them. And so on. Make no mistake: while everyone will suffer somewhat through blanket changes like this it is the established organisations and wealthy players who will suffer the least.

The player group you are in has thousands of players and nobody can help a rookie? wat?

No, no one is going to buy a rookie a couple of jump freighter alts and ships just to make that rookie's life easier.

Yeah it sucks. But luckily they aren't changing the range for them.

Its not about range its about the fact if I drop a set of bombers on my target using a covert bridge, I can't make more than one round trip, to a target and back home to staging point before there is a significant delay. The bombers get the delay too because they use the jump portal.

Yep. Would be nice if the Black Ops had a reduction to fatigue like JF. Maybe not 90%, but atleast 50%

Unfortunately they are all in null which you will not be able to get to with these changes.. shame

Try us. I was out in null before most of the players whining here joined eve online. Hell I flew an iteron 5 out to the drone regions. So yeah dont underestimate the player base who dont have capitals. We will find a way.

Really.. so why haven't you found a way so far?

What has been stopping you?

The numbers seem a bit too rough. Especially the part where the penalties multiply instead of just adding: this triggers an exponential growth in the timer, so much so that it completely stops the movement. I mean, sure, one can use the stargates, but you can't expect lone pilots to use them. Caps are flying houses, even a lobotomized monkey with locked in syndrome will be able to catch them on a gate.

Other than that, the direction is good.

To those that cry:
Compose yourself and try to think. The change will make the placement of capitals and ship stashes a key strategic element in any campaign. You will have to anticipate fights and move accordingly. Further, one may get critical intel by spotting cap movements in a similar way that tank movements are watched in real life.
This does not mean that a cap will be useless. You just won't be able to rat and w8 for a call to arms at the same time, that's all.
Be smart and you will make a HUGE impact with your capital. And if you choose the location right (using intel), you can deploy without fear of PL/CFC titans.

On a closing personal note i think the feedback from the major blocks is too heavily biased to take into consideration. I think most of us, even the blocks themselves, agree that the current situation is bad and the doughnuts need to go.
We need to hear from the lowsec entities for example.
Are this changes enough to tempt them into trying to take sov?

Its hard enough for small groups to move a capital when needed and now this. I doubt any capital would make it through the gates since as it was stated anything can lock them down... add a baseline warp stab at the very least so it takes a group to hold them down. Or give them back more armor and attack power.

Posting again to express how amazing this is.

THANK YOU CCP

Have I mentioned the tears are delicious?

+1000 to you for having the balls to make the necessary changes that will bring more people into EVE
Resubbing some an alt or two and getting at least 2-3 other friends who had quit quite a while ago because of related issues.

5ly jump range? Jump fatigue? congrats you just killed deep null regions like msot of drones, Esoteria, PS, omist. I mean Wow ive never seen anything like this, you guys have tended to overreaction lately but this is ridiculous.

Literally all you had to do was make it so crossing the map took 1 hour in a capital instead of 15 minutes, im not even sure on the math but looks like it will take 1-2 days now or something stupid. Leave the ranges as is, bring down the fatigue numbers a touch, dont let caps use gates (one of the dumbest things in the entire post and not very lore friendly). Funny thing is every cap pilot expected a nerf but we also expected it to be reasonable.
