Please have an option where we can disable all notifications when we are in camera mode (CTRL+F9). It completely ruins immersion when we are capturing for a video and someone pops up online on my watch list.

And while I'm at it, just in case it needs to be repeated, I believe that having a good npe is THE-BEST-THING to have if you want your MMO to grow. Especially EVE. Just sayin'.

EVE does not need new people/players; EVE needs capable new players, players who fit into EVE. Fitting EVE around new players who only play Farmville, Angry Birds or are after quickies in a COD/BF style are detrimental to EVE. Growth for the sake of growth without keeping the principles and ambitions* of your game in mind is THE-BIGGEST-THREAT to have your MMO die a horrible death. Just sayin'.

*I sincerely hope that it is not CCP's ambition to make EVE appeal to Angry Bird and COD players.

Interesting news around the notifications in any case. And it's even filled with useful functionalities (like being able to freely move it around). Can we also have a way to uncheck all boxes at once or do we need to click-fest through all the boxes if we don't want to see anything from a particular column/row/section?

UI Improvement Collective

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

This.

With Oceanus, the next release to be published on September 30th, we will also see the beginning of an improved notification system.

This new system, while still in the early stage, gives you a much better sense of what is going on in EVE regardless if it unpaid bills, friends getting online, insurance notification or all sort of other things. The new system is also highly configurable; for example you can precisely select those notification that you would like to as visual reminder on screen, via email or not at all.

This feature is fully Opt-In, so if you want to experience this new notification system with Oceanus, please check how to activate the experimental notification system.

Read all the details on how this new notification system works and what the future holds in CCP Rise' latest dev blog Opt-in Notification changes for Oceanus!

I want to have feedback for you, but I really can't get passed how funny I thought the "creeping Quafe Megathron" was.... might just be my meds making me silly in the head, but I'm having a hard time focusing after those pics.

the thing that gets me most about the current "skill training complete" is that it should tell you what new shines you've unlocked

the pop up should say like hey now you can use tech 2 Damage Control or whatever, as a player that's what i want to know and I think this would help new players

Eve must really be dying if you decided to add new feature with configuration and opt-in right from the start.

Dying by attrition, most likely.

After all, EvE online is very complicated and it takes a long time to get even the slightest grasp of what's going on.

A great many new players don't want to be FORCED into joining some other players' organization (player corps) before they actually learn the game.

Most new players desire to play solo (at least while they're mining for 'start-up' credits). CCP continues to make the game more complicated for new players and continues to encourage established players to prey on new players (ganking).

So, older players are getting bored (happens to everyone eventually) and new players can't survive in the extremely hostile game unless they adhere to a strict style of play dictated by CCP.

Why would anyone want to play a game so difficult to learn, in which you are regarded as immature punks' fresh meat, and your actions are dictated to you by the company running the game?

While there is still room for improvement, EVE is now simplicity itself for new players compared to how things were a few years ago. Blink

Any word on tying in things like POS reinforcement to the new notifications (like POCO's currently work)?

I hope this lets me disable insurance-based mail eventually. Would also be great if I could set noobships to something I have to request from a station, rather than an automatic thing.

How the notifications widget activates/unfolds relative to position on screen might be something to think about. I keep my ship HUD aligned to the top of the screen. When I mouse over my weapons modules, since they don't have any space above to pop-up, they pop-up sideways, obscuring the weapon module nextdoor... which 99% of the time is exactly the next module I want to click. But now I can't because the pop-up is in the way. Very annoying. I have to set a longer delay, which is annoying in the few instances that I want immediate information regarding a module. I would prefer that the tool tips unfold down instead of to the side, when the HUD is aligned to the top. I would guess that unfolding down would also work out better for the notifications widget when it is aligned to the very top of the screen. Maybe just let us choose how it unfolds - left, right, up, or down.

EDIT: Actually I suppose only up or down are possible for the notifications. Nevermind. If they were small like MuraSaki Siki suggests in his image (http://i.imgur.com/HWvhGyW.jpg), then they could potentially pop-out sideways.

"... and all notifications currently sent to the notifications tab in EVE mail."

Is it a goal of the system to eventually replace mail notifications?

Will this remain opt-in after it goes live? Or is that how it's planned and I'm just not getting it?

I'll be opting in as soon as it hits TQ. I love anything that makes the UI cleaner and more intuitive.

I saw the words "New Player Experience" and felt that sense of deep dread, not experienced in a game since NGE was implemented in Star Wars Galaxies.

I only hope you follow the wisdom in the old maxim, "if it isn't broke, don't fix it."

In CCP, the saying is "If it isn't broke, it needs fixing"
