Works fine. Can't find any flaws so far. I tested only the english client.

Certainly doesn't work. The error message is very generic, just "13:50:16 Meldung Fitting could not be imported from clipboard". Would it be possible to get a more detailed error message? Currently, there's already a message like
"13:52:48 Hint The fitting you are trying to save has corrupted data. The Damsel is not a ship." when I try to safe a modified ship DNA linked fitting. Helps finding the cause of the error.
There are just so many things you can do wrong there, that giving you more specific and descriptive message could be tricky (should be easy in the case of the ship itself though)

If I wasn't married, I would propose to you right now on bended knee with flowers and everything. Oops

Actually I'd probably do it anyway, but my wife is a pretty good shot and I don't run very fast anymore. Big smile

In all due seriousness - this is a fantastic change, on both counts. I know I, for one, love these little things improvements, and say keep up the good work.

Dear CCP Karkur,

since you are playing with fittings at the moment, may I ask if you could add an option to 'delete all' fittings at once? It would help a lot if I could delete my personal fittings and import the newer version of them back and dont have to delete 196 personal fittings.

Then it is perfection.

Also this. Every now and then, I delete large portions of my saved fittings if I change alliances (or they change doctrines) and I clear out my old Eve fittings and reimport the new ones. Being able to delete multiple fittings at once would be a HUGE bonus (since deleting 130+ fittings one at a time is a huge pain).

I think that was the point of his test - to see if it would handle that gracefully.

Behold the (upgraded) Cattleship! Nothing the ingame fitting browser accepts (as Cattle is no ship), so it was a good opportunity to check how the EFT format import breaks Blink

Oh, by the way, that pictured fitting EFT format exports itself this way:

Imports just fine as this. And can be exported to clipdoard again. So it appears that non-ship fittings lack modules when exporting while keeping the "ship".
But no one with a bit of sense left would want to export something like that anyway Bear

What about items in the cargohold, like ammo & scripts, will those also be imported into the fitting tool like it is when you import the EFT XML export file?

Ammo will be included in the cargo.
If you import this:
125mm Railgun II, Guristas Iron Charge S

it will include the number of charges that the module takes.
And you can also have
Guristas Iron Charge S x1000

and then extra 1000 of that ammo will be in your cargo.
(it only allows for charges, ice and drones, the same as the fitting does now)

This sounds like it could be a problem. If you have filled your cargo with extra ammo/charges in EFT and the import tries to put in the stuff you have loaded too, you would end up with an overloaded bay in the import.

You can also import totally invalid fits and people have done so. It does not mean you will be able to fit your ship like that in reality.

Gonna say, calling it "Import from EFT format" sets a pretty dangerous precedent as it gives the impression that EFT is officially supported, sanctioned and/or endorsed by CCP. This is problematic as it is closed source and could potentially be changed into a malicious app without any warning.

It would be better to simply call it Text format or mention the open sourse (and imo superior) pyfa project instead.

Because the Legacy Code has too much Psssssssssssssssh, nothing will ever get fixed until CCP stop wasting money on failed sparkle MMOs and instead rewrite the entire backend of EvE from scratch.

That's a good point, because we will not be chasing EFT with any changes they might do, and calling it EFT might imply that. I'll take it up with the rest of my team... thanks Smile
(and the reason we are adding support to this format (as it is) is because it's so widely used in the community).

I understand that. :) It's a good idea and the format is used across a variety of fitting programs. Maybe call it "Plain Text Format" then make a Evelopedia page on what that means or something.

Ahoy!

We will deploy a new feature to Singularity in the very near future (today or tomorrow) which will allow you to import text based fittings using the EFT (EVE Fitting Tool) format with just 1 click, for example from EFT, Pyfa killboards, Battleclinic, etc. Here is how it's done:

1. Copy the fitting text to your clipboard
2. Go to your client, open the fittings window
3. Click on 'Browse'
4. Click the little icon in the bottom center that looks like 2 papers
5. Profit!

This feature does not care about text formatting other than that the modules are all separated by line breaks.

Please try the feature out and leave any feedback you might have in this thread.

it would be 100% more awesome if you wouldn't have to open two windows and press a button to insert a fitting. Imagine the client would recognize the fitting whenever you paste it via ctrl+v and no text field is focused.

At the very least make the fitting window is smart enough to read text from ctrl-v if it has focus.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Thanks but an option to import multiple fittings at the same time would also be lovely.

Not from clipboard, but from the file list.

You can highlight multiple fittings (left column) in the import menu, but it still only imports one.

Hey guys.
