I'm so tired of how gloomy this game is and has been ever since the new shader model around Apocrypha (?) time.

I've been inactive for a while so may have missed any information from CCP about this. Anyone have anything to share?

It's dark because incandescent light bulbs were outlawed and the new "energy efficient" ones haven't warmed up yet.

Or, you could just shoot more stuff. Shooting stuff lights things up.

Lady Spank, welcome back. Cool

Lights are for the weak btw.

Ideally, brightness in space should depend on the type, distance and visibility of the system's star(s).

I'd be happy if the Minmatar CQ could get better lighting ... and maybe a curtain between the gangway leading to the hangar and the CQ itself.

Maybe some flowerpots with flowers ... or candles, candles are romantic.

Don't anger the forum gods.

Spank, with some intuitive detective work, you can find the gamma settings for your monitor. Fiddle around a bit and you'll have even the darkest corner of empty space lit up like high noon in the desert.

That's why we call it "light a cyno" because we are gonna light your grid when we jump at you with fireworks Twisted

Lady Areola Fappington:  Solo PVP isn't dead!  You just need to make sure you have your booster, remote rep, cyno, and emergency Falcon alts logged in and ready before you do any solo PVPing.

Glad I'm not the only person to notice this.

The ships look much too dark and are in serious need of brightening up.

The gloom may be more of a poetic gloom than spectral . The light bulb is the symbol for what? In before bad tetrameter and pastels...

the light shader changes just updated the way how light is calculated on the models, which forced them to update a few materials. But thats it. They didn't even write a devblog about it since its basically not noticeable.

so do you want more light or less? IMO its too bright in many cases. The gas clouds are brighter then the sun. Most of eve is empty space so you don't really have anything to look at beside brackets.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

hit `esc` hit the "general" tab (I think that's it), see that shadow setting? set that to low, and boom! lights!

Good point, if one thing isn't dull it's the skyboxes. Cripes!

Were it up to me™ space would be so dark our ships would need search lights to "see" anything and the further out we go the more we rely on sensors and overview.

Yeah I could not get enough of the mood set in Alien and the sequels.

Funny, I feel the exact opposite, I wish I could tint the windows on my ships as the sun is always so god damned bright. You would think these goggles would offer some relief.
