Also, might be news to you, but every program running your computer is able to access your clipboard at any time. It doesn't even have to ask for permission (excluding Windows 8.1 apps). Your web browser might ask for permissions for web pages, but that's just a security feature only implemented there.

^^ This. EFT is one application that monitors clipboard, does that make it a spyware? As long as application isn't uploading your clipboard results into some online database, it isn't a privacy violation.

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

I'm so sick of CCP dumbing the game down for the sake of Goonswarm button-mashing F1 Monkeys. Devs, please stop this player-friendly madness.

This is great! Could we please also have a button to copy the fit you are browsing to EFT format on the clipboard? Or maybe a text box pop-up. Annoying to have to go find an exported file, not to mention the XML format rather than EFT.

While you are playing with fittings, a few Little Things™ would be much appreciated:

1. Can you fix it so that when I import corporate fittings, or import fittings when I have the corporate fittings dropdown selected, they actually go into the corporate fittings and not into my personal fittings?

2. When I fit a ship from a saved fitting, can you automatically name the ship the same name as the saved fitting's name?

3. I know it is unlikely to happen, but sure would be nice if you could save everything that is in a cargohold to the fitting, such as implants, depots, etc., whatever is in cargo (along with the current ammo/scripts/etc.)

4. Any chance we could have alliance fittings? Pretty-please?

5. And finally, a total wildcard idea... how about the ability to have fittings saved as "visible to public" or "visible to fleet" Pirate

Thanks much!

Nice :) I like this a lot.

Of course, if your corporation or alliance are using Fleet-Up for fittings then you could do this now by clicking Fitting > Open In Game > Save using the IGB. #shameless

/off topic

That's a great feature of Fleet-up, one I use a lot. However, the cargo hold is not transferring over properly to the Eve client from Fleet-up. Anything you save in the cargo hold on Fleet-up (i.e., ammo) does not get saved on the in-game fitting window. Also, some items that have had their name changed in game have not been updated on Fleet-up yet. (Note: this was true as of about a week ago, not sure if it's been fixed since on Fleet-up).

I don't want to sound bitter, so I'll first say that I'm very happy that the fitting manager is getting some love.

However as others have said this type of feature is already present via the DNA format and javascript API.
Secondly I'd say that EFT, while undoubtedly is the most common seen format, is also a pretty terrible format. CCP adding support for something like the Common loudout format would be really sweet.
http://artefact2.com/clf/spec-common-loadout-format-01

i.e. a reasonably well thought out format in a common container format that most languages have inbuilt support for.

And lastly, I'd much rather see the current capabilities of what a ship fit can contain to be expanded. Manually adding implants in dozens and dozens of AT ships can be a real chore I can assure you.

Anyway, I'm happy the ship fit manager is getting some love. But I would like to see more.

We will deploy a new feature to Singularity in the very near future (today or tomorrow) which will allow you to import text based fittings using the EFT (EVE Fitting Tool) format with just 1 click, for example from EFT, Pyfa killboards, Battleclinic, etc. Here is how it's done:

1. Copy the fitting text to your clipboard
2. Go to your client, open the fittings window
3. Click on 'Browse'
4. Click the little icon in the bottom center that looks like 2 papers
5. Profit!

This feature does not care about text formatting other than that the modules are all separated by line breaks.

Please try the feature out and leave any feedback you might have in this thread.

Slightly off topic, but please add support for all other modules/items in game. There's so many things that are useful to carry around, especially now that we have mobile depots.

Nice!

Dear CCP Karkur,

since you are playing with fittings at the moment, may I ask if you could add an option to 'delete all' fittings at once? It would help a lot if I could delete my personal fittings and import the newer version of them back and dont have to delete 196 personal fittings.

Then it is perfection.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

It would be awesome if you could test it out on all those different places you use where you can copy this kind of data and where you can paste it, and tell us if something doesn't work as expected so we can fix it :)

No issues found so far during these tests:

Import from Clipboard with the source being EFT, pyfa, zKillboard
Export to Clipboard, import into EFT, pyfa

Didn't yet check with a different client language and tooltips set to show in that language (the "*" troubles).

With the client set to German language with localized tooltips, no issues occur. Copying an ingame fitting to the clipboard is free from "*", except the fitting's name - which causes no trouble.

Issue: Exporting a T3 fitting creates this
exported fitting wrote:
[Loki, Loki*]

Medium Projectile Collision Accelerator I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

Loki Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Loki Defensive - Adaptive Shielding
Loki Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration
Loki Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Loki Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
Only Rigs and Subsystems are included. Reported with EBR-23380
Importing a T3 fitting works fine.

Is it supposed to check if fitted modules are valid for that ship type? Like Large Micro Jump Drive on Battlecruisers, etc.

updated my post above with some additional findings.

Also:

[Cattle, Test]
Medium Projectile Collision Accelerator I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

Certainly doesn't work. The error message is very generic, just "13:50:16 Meldung Fitting could not be imported from clipboard". Would it be possible to get a more detailed error message? Currently, there's already a message like
"13:52:48 Hint The fitting you are trying to save has corrupted data. The Damsel is not a ship." when I try to safe a modified ship DNA linked fitting. Helps finding the cause of the error.
