Surely you are joking...

No, dead serious with a bucket load of optimism... I can see how CCP builds this into a webapp, making it platform independent...

Would you not like that too?

How about you? Would you consider, for a fee, to pull this into EVEMON? or merge with EVEHQ?

EVEMon and EVEHQ are not compatible by design. But if The EVEMon Dev Team was more than just me for the last 3 years, it could had by now things that EVEHQ has (like PRISM or HQF). RL comes first you know. And btw I already have a very demanding job. The fact that I'm still able to maintain EVEMon is considered by me an epic task.

Desmont, why can't you find developers to help in EVEMon developing? Lack of interest or is it based on a weird dev-environment and there aren't so many developers on said dev-environment?

Pls, forgive me, I'm asking out of curiosity as I'm not a coder/developer.

I wonder the same thing. Beats me, why. EVEMon is .NET/C# based and I believe that there should be enough people out there that do know the language. On the other hand .NET developers with free time is a rare thing, if I can judge from my experience.

As I've not heard anything for several weeks from the two people primarily responsible for the development of EveHQ, I have decided to resume development myself and get EveHQ up to date with the Crius and Hyperion releases as soon as possible.

I'm not sure how long this will take or even how it will be deployed, but I'll make a start and see what happens in the meantime.

After seeing EVEHQ code, i know that is crazy difficult to maintain it if you never work inside it before. But if I can help you in few tasks / debug I will be happy =)

During my investigation, i saw few code which should be deprecated like legacy API project but which still be use. Plus, as a feature, I think that using wpf instead of dotnetbar for UI could be a plus for further maintain. The first is a standard, the second require a licence, so...

Another things which could be grateful is a roadmap / todo up to date to know what is expect, on which feature your are working on, what is planned or which feature has been reject...

I think it's missing at the moment and contribution looks more difficult =/

I agree that there are a lot of issues to deal with both in terms of code and administration, but I'm reluctant to start making substantial plans or changes to the existing code with the current situation as it is.

Total agree. Blueprint Manager overview in Prism could be replace using the new /char/blueprint and /corp/blueprint whose content name, location name, specific location name, me , pe and more instead of the current process which search for BP in assets API.

In the latest release of EveHQ, prism is broken because ME/PE could not been set.

How big would the effort be to webify this? I am willing to donate a server instance running ubuntu.

It would be a massive undertaking for anyone brave enough to try.

As massive as when I started to webify EVEMon but then I got a demanding job.

The knowhow you have already acquired will be very useful?

What would be the components of such a project?

1. DB - MySQL?
2. Base tool to use, this could be PHP or Python?
3. A frontend, Ajax?

You already pull info via the API to your current app, how do you store that data? Surely a DB would be goodd for this? And your current method for pulling the data, it should not be a major task to use PHP or Python to perform the same task?

Then using the exact methodology to combine this data as you currently do with .net etc and combine it with PHP or Python?

The present this in a GUI based on Ajax?

Damn man, you could do this!

Also, you could use a freemium model, allow basic functions free, and charge a fee for the premium functions.

I would be a member :)

You are an optimistic one aren't you? Smile

No doubt someone with those web skills may be able to pull it off, if they're willing to convert all the code and the UI as well. I personally can't see it happening as it's just too much work, but who knows.

Oh, and charging a fee (if not for in-game isk) is against the EULA and the site would be shut down very quickly by CCP.

Why webifying EveHQ ? there are few website which already combine those features. EveHQ still the best EVE tool app' and for latest commit i've seen, it became more mobile, therefore should still as a app.
