I just released version 1.7 with a hotfix for price import:

  • [new] auto-guessing cache path
  • [fixed] price import due to obscure Microsoft compiler bug
  • [fixed] corporation orders log import

I would like to thank Microsoft for leaving this mine in their compiler for people to step on. Seriously - a bug which appears randomly and only in Release mode. WTF Microsoft?

It's hosted on Amazon cloud so it should be fast, at least in theory.

The app is interesting, but there are few points that I would like to note as a EVE Mentat user.

1. I Like the idea you took EVE Mentat and combined it with that other app in order a multiplatform. I certainly like some things about it that EVE Mentat doesn't have such as assets list.

2. I don't understand why you had to break or delete anything that EVE Mentat has. My suggestion would be to use it as a starting point and build on that. For example EVE Mentat has separate tabs for Market Browser and Orders which I find easier to use because importing market from importing the orders are separated.

3. What's with the cache import? It doesn't seem to work.

4. There is really little documentation on using the app and it's pretty scarce. I would suggest making a YouTube video on how to use all the apps features with the actual live example, so users better understand how to use it and what needs to be setup in certain cases.

Thanks for your suggestions. Separate market tab and YT tutorials are things I have in planning for a long time, but some other things tend to pop up first. I'm thinking of the market tab interfacing with the IGB and margin tool to automatically tell you what to trade, based on current prices and volume.

Interesting program, and i really like the margin tool. But i have a question, the statistics tab, isk is showed in the manner of 2.4*10^8 and so forth, which works, but would it be possible to be able to switch to just show the regular amount of isk? 240 000 000 for example? Takes more space, but then i don't have to calculate the value each time.

Else keep up the good work, looking forward to see how it develop.

Edit: One more question, "import prices from web" what site is it using to get the prices?

You can change the number format in the Preferences (it's in the Prices section). For web import, it uses eve-marketdata.com.

Nice, thanks =)

I understand that the more 0 involved the harder it is to read, so would it be possible to maybe add some spacing or commas in the numbers?

And the margin tool, the autocopy price on export makes adding items to the market a easier and faster, but would it be possible to be able to just click on the sell or buy line in the margin tool to copy the number as well? Remember a tool called Elinor having that feature, pretty neat.

Could you build a 32bit version ?

I could most likely, but it would need to be tested in every possible way on a 32bit system and I don't have one.

You didn't unit tested it ?

I may build it if I found the courage to create a buiild environment. I'm mostly a Unix guy, so I don't have any dev tools on my windows partition.

I don't have a 32bit system, so I cannot reliably test a 32bit build with any amount of unit tests. Of course there's WoW64, but I find it not trustworthy enough as an environment. If anyone with a 32bit Windows would be willing to click through it, I could make a build.

Version 1.8 has just been released:

  • [new] market browser tab
  • [new] copy to clipboard buttons in Margin Tool
  • [fixed] corporation orders import from logs
  • [fixed] transactions import with auto-adding custom costs disabled
  • [fixed] empty script error message
  • [fixed] overflow in eve-marketdata.com price query
  • [fixed] API import errors with no characters
  • [fixed] bad asset value snapshot with no characters
  • [changed] auto-completion in filter edits is now case sensitive
  • [changed] internal API cache file layout fix – no more “path too long” errors for those messing in there on Windows
  • [changed] warning bar now shows no data warning for no characters

At the moment, there's only the 64bit version. I'm going to make an experimental 32bit build some time later.

Having trouble getting the IGB extension to load in the IGB, just an operation timed out error. Web service in an out of game browser works fine.

Any thoughts?

edit: Using 127. instead of localhost seems to have solved it.

As an aside, I use corporation orders almost exclusively. In Mentat, I was used to corp orders showing up in the character orders tab for the character inside the corp that placed them. That seems to not be the case in Evernus, corp orders aren't mirrored to character orders. Is there any way you could add that option?

edit 2: The IGB seems to cycle back around during a scan, and go through the items again. I'd prefer it if it stopped after the last numerical item. Am I overlooking an option?

Actually the separation of those two was done on purpose to avoid confusion. I can add an option to combine them.

No, it cycles back. I will add an option to stop at end.

When do you think you'll add the option to select/deselect which columns appear, particularly in orders tabs?

In particular, there are some instances where I'd rather have the 'difference' field in the price popup be a column, instead of the 'detla' column.

Also, could you have a margin column in the 'buy' tab that is based off of the best buy and best sell price scanned for that item? It'd be nice for a quick glance way of seeing that a spread has collapsed and maybe I should think about cancelling the buy order.

Does the cache import delete entries from the cache after scanning?

I can add column options, sure. The entries aren't currently deleted.

New version - 1.9 - has been released:

  • [new] option to stop market scan at end of item list
  • [new] item history tab
  • [new] margin column in buy orders based on current order and best known sell order
  • [new] ability to hide columns in tables via context menu
  • [new] option to refresh prices after order import with selectable import source
  • [new] option to delete old cache files
  • [fixed] corporation transaction and journal import
  • [fixed] internal API cache fix

Note: please turn off any other running cache parsers (like EveMon market uploader) when doing cache importing. Might lead to unpleasant effects in both applications, when they compete for the files.
