This has to be one of the most boring, mindless things I've ever done...

Left click, left click, right click, left click, right click, left click, left click, left click & drag, left click, left click.
Wait 3-5 minutes.
Left click, left click, left click.
Wait 3-5 minutes.

Repeat 16 times.

Do storyline mission - this actually requires reading the mission text!

EDIT: If anyone interested.
Request mission, accept mission, right click, add waypoint, right click, add way point, select hanger, click & drag deliverable to cargo hold, undock, autopilot.
Wait.
Completed mission, undock, autopilot.
Wait.

You really need to fleet up with someone running level 4 security missions, assuming the corp you need the standings for has them.

Who put the goat in there?

And that's why I also shoot people for a living! Pirate Stop min/maxining, find a hobby, and your tolerance levels will rise.

You don't really need faction standing to be a trader.
And if you're grinding faction standing, regular storyline missions is about the worst way possible to go about that particular business.

I never bother with faction standing, and all I do in Eve is trade.

OP was writing about hauling missions so mini game would pop up every time your warp drive engages Blink

I realise I don't need standing to be a trader. But it's not like my trader is doing anything else, so why not. I don't really mind slowly grinding out these courier missions, they are totally mindless. I just click click click each time I walk past the study.

What would be better alternatives?

Fleet up with mission running maniac and completely AFK your standings in exchange for some ISK. You wouldn't even need to go into study to click except that one to accept fleet invite :)

Hmm... or you get standings share only for corp/agent and faction is exclusive? I'm not sure, never paid too much attention to this but I know somebody will correct me soon.

AFAIK, that won't give you faction standing. Corp standing is easy. Faction standing is the bugger.

Faction standing is one of the few things left you have to work for.

Though with recent changes after much newbie whining it no longer actually is useful for much.

Well if you consider a totally trivial, absolutely zero challange, mindless timesink to be "work" then yeah. Got to keep working.

The faction standings rise is incrementally ludicrous. I think that's what the OP was getting at. Considering how much time and effort - and risk - goes into the effort, these .001 increases are like - WTH were THEY thinking...the clever ones who call this "calibration." I've always found it to be a ridiculous feature, and I've always believed the powers that be think it's just oh so clever of them. Behind every proficient obsessive compulsive/anal-retentive is a list of "good" reasons.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

If you're grinding Caldari standings you could try running them for Totsikka Enakiri in Itamo. That way you can still do market research and trade in Jita at the same time. Also, the average mission is really short so you can get a level 3 storyline in about an hour.

Don't you diss on .01 ISKers in Jita. I did that once and it was better than mining or doing missions. I even got hatemail on my Jita alt from fellow .01iskers. Also it's funny to watch Jita Local.Roll

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

Stop what you are doing RIGHT NOW SmileCool There's a much faster way to gain faction standing... and I'm talking about from -10.00 (without skills) to enough faction standing to enroll in Factional Warfare for that faction in a matter of 2-3 relaxed afternoons of playing:

  1. Tutorial agents - each faction has 3 sets of 5 agents. Completing the series (5-6 missions in a series) of missions from one agent will give you a decent faction standing boost. Note that you will get the faction standings only ONCE. Doing more than one series of missions for any tutorial agent will NOT grant you additional faction standing. Most of the mission objectives for the tutorial missions that require one are available on contracts in systems where the agents are located (to speed things up a bit more);

  2. When you are done with the tutorial agents, head over to Data centers for that particular faction. You can there exchange tags (bought on the market) for faction standing. You can do this ONLY once with your character as well;

  3. When you are done with Data centers, head over to COSMOS constellation for that faction. Pick only the missions that require you to bring a mission objective, buy that from the market/contracts and hand it over to the agent. COSMOS agents that offer faction standing can be activated ONLY ONCE as well.
  4. - Caldari COSMOS guide: http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/jowen/Caldari_COSMOS_guide_by_Jowen_Datloran_v.0.5.pdf
    - Amarr COSMOS guide: http://go-dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/jowen/Amarr_COSMOS_guide_by_Jowen_Datloran_v1.2.pdf
    - Minmatar COSMOS guide: http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/0610/AniCOSMOSv6.002.pdf
    - Gallente COSMOS guide: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Gallente_COSMOS_Guide
You don't have to read or follow the entire guide... just pick the missions with faction standings which require an easily obtainable (read: cheap) objective from them.

  5. If after doing all 3 things above doesn't provide you with enough faction standing, go to the space of its allied faction and repeat all 3 above for that faction. Caldari and Amarr are friendly, so if you gain faction standing with Amarr by doing the Amarr side of tutorial agents, data centers and COSMOS, you will also gain a decent amount of standing for Caldari as well. Minmatar and Gallente are also working this way.

I have personally done this in Algos in about 2-3 days Blink
