Survival of Eve

Dear CCP,

I have been playing Eve on and off since October 2003. Although I have mainly been a PVE player in the world of Eve I have enjoyed every aspect of it to an extent.

When Eve first came out I was awestruck at its 5000+ systems, beautiful graphics, the excitement of roaming into a low sector system to try to mine for rare minerals, and the excitement of danger the game presented with doing so.

I also always believed it wouldn't be long until another company saw Eve and set its sights higher. Well, that time is finally here.

In comes Star Citizen, and Elite: Dangerous. After seeing several videos of these game I know Eve finally has direct competition for it's genre and these games look really good.

I do not want to see Eve fail. Ever.

With this thread I would like you, the players of Eve, to come up with UNBIASED ideas that will make Eve a direct competitor to these new games coming out. When I say "unbiased" I mean changes/additions to the game that do not have any intended benefit to any of the alliances that are currently in the game. We need content in the game that that will attract the new generation of gamers.

Personally I purpose they work on WiS, such as doing agent missions where you have to dock at derelict stations to complete a mission. Think "Eve meets Fallout" in an abandoned station and you should get the idea.

Please add any ideas you may have here.

The issue with this one thread here, is that there is an entire forum dedicated to this.

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=topics&f=270

There's the link for you, it is impossible to contain all the suggestions into 1 thread. Sift through all the threads there, and post your likes and dislikes in these threads because they are the only real way for the Eve community to voice our wants and desires to CCP. Take the time to support already established threads with what you think good ideas are, otherwise you will have a random compilation of ideas that is impossible to sift through that ranges from take nulsec out of eve, to simply being able to name our jump clones.

Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012.

I don't know why I've bothered with this game for 11 years. No one listens.

With an attitude like that, and posting from a faceless NPC alt, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

What CCP could do is what they should've done long ago (or even from the beginning) but for them to do it now will just make it look like they are copying their competition.

They could try actually making WoD Online and do the same thing they did with EVE. Create something complete unique to the MMO world. However, it sounds like EVE was a fluke that they can't recreate even if they tried.

CCP's true, butthurt, colors.

Because those who can't do themselves keep others from doing too.

Nice Eve is dying thread ... 1 day alt - maybe you can post with your 11 year main to show you actually played Shocked

Besides that, i don't buy the 'beautiful graphic' thing from 2003, the non-aesthetic visuals from that time were the thing that kept me from touching EVE for almost a decade.

And I don“t want some rubbish comparison of a game I play and enjoy with a video of something that is neither done nor of interest to me and many others.

If you want fast food games that attract your attention via videos - go play console games.

Eve is no blend of commerce and fashion mush - the reason I play it. You start making it like that - I'll quit.

pve would be the problem lol.

SC and elite if the doom of eve...will take away pve players, What SC appeals to it seems to me. have a coworker who swears by it and has spent assloads of money on their fund drives. to get the special p2w ships. He didn't like the permanent aspects of eve death in pvp. Lost ship, isk, etc.

TBH if 2000 bears left for SC....eve would still go on. Probably with a more normal economy. 2000 incursion spamming empire bears gone would be lots of isk off the servers.

Also hate to shatter op's dreams of the perfect game but it has varying levels of funders who have varying levels of special gear a new player still in beta will not have. Put another way.....the p2w is already strong with this game and its time and cost tiered.

Just not seeing SC"s eve killing potential, it already has strong p2w emphasis and I see it getting worse after release when they need cash injections. Even in beta I have to spend cash to be equal....not a selling point to me lol. Eve is far from perfect....but it does not nickel and dime me to death with "buy this new ship with rl money...it does s much and its not cosmetic".

To my mind. SC and Elite Dangerous are very different games to Eve.

They are very much the successors of THEIR predecessors not of Eve.

Eve != twitchy combat. Yes there is player skill (and more than most new players would guess, as not much is needed for PvE), but it much more about making correct choices in a timely matter than actually needing the player skill to actually achieve these decisions.

I would actually say the The Repopulation is closer to Eve than Elite Dangerous or SC.

To my mind the resurgence of Sci-Fi over Fantasy will probably just increase the size of the market. It like when WOW came out. It did not mean the death of other fantasy MMOs (except those that tried and failed to be WOW clones) instead it increased the MMO market and all MMO games subscriptions increased.

As everyone knows, it is legally forbidden to play more then one game in the same genre.

So I guess both Eve and Star Citizen are dead, since everyone will of course play Elite instead.

No no, I mean I don't think it was ever intended to be alive in the first place. Instead of hiring more programmers to bugfix and get the product done, he adds a bonsai tree and a picture of a ship for people to buy. Not even an actual ship - just a picture.

I've been around Jita. It's clearly a scam.

Elite: Dangerous, though..

..yeah, I'm curious to see how many people will quit EVE and go play Elite instead. It seems like it's shaping up to be all kinds of things that I've seen cropping up in F&I over the years.

Elite looked interesting, not as a replacement, but something to do when bored... Until I saw it was instanced. Ie the game seperates people at the same location onto different grids.

Boooooo.
