Teams - surprising fact

I'm a large scale battleship producer, so I've been surfing everything I can find on teams. Yesterday, an auction rolled through for a 5% ME battleship team, which I missed by minutes because of RL. I valued it at 2.5bil, and it went for 700mil. @#$%

Today I saw a 4% ME battleship team coming through which I valued at 2bil, picked it up for 500mil. (Snipers suck, but losing to mechanics sucks worse)

Which was the better value? On the surface, maybe the 5% was a bit more expensive, but it's the best BS team in the game. Or is it?

Today, I plugged in my 4% team to find that it's actually a 5.5% team, as it is also a 1.5% ME large class team, and the specialties are additive. The 5% team didn't have an additive ME specialty. A quick survey of all the active teams seems to indicate none of the 5% teams do.

It looks like I just picked up the best BS ME team in the game for a greater than 5:1 return on the price.

Dumb luck.

Yes, you can get up to 7.62% material reduction with teams.

That team you bought is not a 5.5% material reduction team, it's a 5.44% material reduction team.

I hope your 2 billion evaluation was based on somewhat more trustworthy maths. Blink

The formula you probably want to be using is

Quote:
max(runs, ceil(round( base_quantity * facility_modifier * team broad modifier * team narrow modifier * (1.0 - me/100) * runs, 2)))

If you know what you want to build, my website might be able to help you at http://eve-industry.org/teamscout/?g=27

When I'm getting 5-7x on my spend, I'm not fussed about .33% of anything. I know my valuations are a ballpark based on future volume being similar to the past, so the first thing I do is slice the hell out of it as a starting point. I've actually been in this area of the game since 2006, so this isn't the first patch I've seen.

Wait, people are spending billions of ISK to have a team at their location for a couple of weeks?

You must be doing a LOT of production to make up the cost.

Four weeks, and not quite billions, although a 1bil auction result was recently reported. There's a battlecruiser team I'm going to have to pass on because at .5bil two days before closing it will definitely be above my price.
