Memorial System for passed away players

I remember a posting in 2007 about DarkElf from VETO who passed away unexpected at the age of 26. A few months ago I received the message that a former alliance and corp mate had passed away by a sudden heart attack. It was shocking because I still remember his voice and character on TS, he brought me 5 years ago into my actual corp and left the game, he's from Texas and that's all I know about him. Today I read about the character John Bellicose who passed away in April.

I have no clue how many people passed away since 2003 but their characters stay silent and forgotten ingame.

I think it should be worth to give those people a memorial system. A silent system where everyone can go to remember about these people who were a part of the game and community. They all made their contribution to EVE's evolution and were a part of what is EVE today.

I am not sure if this idea is going to far. But EVE isn't just a game. It's a real virtual sub-culture. For many it's a part of the daily life. And I think these players owe a place to be remembered.

While this is thoroughly depressing, the fact that EVE is more then "Just a game" and basically a hobby/second life to people who are dedicated players, something like this might be kinda cool. Could have their home system's tradehub that has lame old monuments get re-furbished with names of that race's character or something.

This would probably be exploited.. and I couldn't imagine being the GM or w/e that has to verify death certificates, but there's probably a lot more important things on players minds then this atm, tbh.

Isn't there a yearly 'remember Vile Rat' happening ? I*d say that's a player driven event.

More of a question is inheritance.... an E-Will of some sorts.
