Overview Overhaul

As someone who's spent hours obsessively tweaking perfect overview setups, only to have my dreams dashed by:

-small errors in the beginning, unwittingly copied to dozens of later overviews
-a confusing interface that leaves me unsure of an actual overview setup's effectiveness until the moment it comes into play (oftentimes too late)

I would love to see the following changes to the overview setup structure (inrelative order of importance/burning desire):

-triple-state filtering versus binary: if nothing else, this. At the moment the setup is binary; an ALWAYS/SOMETIMES/NEVER selection would be more intuitive in my opinion ("SOMETIMES" would make the setup indifferent to the given criteria).
-multi-selection & editing. If I'm somehow left out a key criteria from many overviews, let me add it en masse to several different setups
-more granularity in ship types. Ideally I would be able to pick to include/exclude individual hull types (yes, it's great to have an "enemy logi" overview, but at the moment it excludes T1 logi cruisers, or includes T1 combat cruisers)
-better grouping of objects - I don't have all the answers here, but I cannot imagine a scenario in which I care about the different between "Large Collidable Ship" and "Large Collidable Structure" - maybe someone does, but for the rest of us maybe a two-tiered grouping is appropriate to allow blanket inclusion/exclusino? It's also worth mentioning that it's possible to go into stunning depth with NPC and LCO structures and ships, but impossible to do so with player-flown objects.
-folders for setups. similar to how bookmarks work, your top 5 are displayed outright, while special snowflake setups can be sequestered into neat folders for the OCD afflicted.

Some might say this is better off under the "little things" thread, but I respectfully disagree. I've attempted to introduce a multitude of people to this game, and one of the major turnoffs was the overview - it's how you interact with the objects around you, and getting it set up is painful and, in my opinion, impedes rather than adds to gameplay.

TL;DR remove pain factor from overview setups because it turns off newbies.

I will read the whole thing later, but I want to throw in the feature to be able to share and save set ups server-side. If that's already mentioned then nvm

Is there some up and coming feature, whether small or large, that you are particularly happy or excited about?

CCP Seagull: Small but big: Properly share-able overview settings. Soon (tm)

Cool, CCP are doing what goons already managed several years ago.

+1 obviously

While we're at it, some more ideas:

1) allow filtering or at least separation of on-grid / off grid objects

2) decouple dscan settings from overview settings!!!

3) allow further customization of colors - fo example frigates green and cruisers red, and/or ships green until they're >30km away, then yellow up to 15km, finally red <15km
