Smartbomb Bombs!

Goes in a bomb launcher, send a small pulse out every second in a 2.5km radius dealing X damage until it reaches its destination where it does a final explosion, doing less damage than a normal bomb. Yes, the bomb will hit you too for a few cycles, but hey, drawbacks!

I don't know why this needs to be a thing, it just does!

So basically a 30km line of damage, that will do the same overall damage for the line, but significantly less to each person, and has a chance of killing the launcher?

It should be done, if only for all the oops I blew meself up again Jebediah moments.

Don't really know what you are getting out of a 2.5km radius that needs urgent implementation, but hey why not have it deal more then 1,5 k damage while your on it. And I doubt smartbombs are really smart. They should be called Dud-bombs or something.

Nice idea, until you consider that bombing runs are typically done in groups and not just solo ships. This would mean that our favorite glass cannon ship is guaranteed to be committing suicide if everyone loads these.

Unless you think SB's, which occasionally just fizz and pop under the stress of having to maintain existence, could survive 10 pulses from 10 bombs launched simultaneously. P

So... Fun idea, but impractical to use.
