I'm a pretty new player that dabbled in eve a month or 2 at a time for 3-4 years. This time it seems it's stuck with me instead of just quitting like I had previous but I'm having some trouble second guessing myself and am looking for some experienced opinions.

First things first, What I like doing is exploration sites, combat or hacking sites, I'm trying to get into some FW, Running combat anoms in low-sec. I like being around and hanging around Low-sec.. Cruiser Sized Hulls. Shield tanking. Being a primarily solo player.

What I don't like is missions in HS, Large ships probably anything over BCs. Drones as a primary weapon system.

I Skilled into a raven when I came back to make money with missions. I didn't like the Raven or the missions. I'm trained somewhat heavily into missiles with most of the support skills at 4 and the launcher skills hanging around the same. I've tried a handful of different hull sizes and the only ship I can say I really enjoy that I like going and doing anoms in or whatever is the drake. But being slow I don't feel great moving around in it in low sec as I'm not really sure how to defend myself apart of being aligned. I'd like to get into some pvp in cruiser or frigate hulls but the caldari ships seem really kitey and I think I enjoy being more in your face kinda brawly.

Basically I'm looking for ship advice, should I stick with caldari or move to another branch?I know it's not set in stone one way or the other, but I'm looking to keep specializing or move on for a few. I'm looking for a set of ships that could be explorers or cheapy but comparable combat ships. ships that can do the things I like effectively alone. I know eve is social and sometime I'm sure I'll get it but I've always kindof been a loner and as of now it's staying that way.

It sounds like you are running into the same issues that I do. I love frigates and rarely fly anything other than the enyo or ishkur. As for your question a tengu is probably be what you're looking for, but that is a long train and an expensive ship. The tengu will ge good for hacking/archeology, and be able to handle combat anoms once refit. In the meantime stick to your drake, or maybe move into a hawk for easier sites.

lets see...

Caldari... exploration... missiles.

I'll recommend you'll aim to fly a Tengu... it's more or less around the skills you got and you can fit it for exploration.

For now you got the Heron and it's T2 counterpart for exploration.

Do note that data\relic sites have no rats so you don't need weapons for those only for combat sites.

There is new site called "Ghost site" this type will make an AOE damage after certain amount of time so don't go near it in squishy frigate.

As for PvP, you can look into FW or public roams.

The fun part about public roams is that is a "no strings attached" system.
You join when/if you want and leave when you want.
It is just a bunch of lunatics...uhm, people coming together to have fun being in a fleet killing stuff. After the event is over each will go their own way again.

There are 3 more well known public fleets around atm but of course there kight be even more that dont have as much attention.

a. RvB Ganked - Usually on Saturdays around 20:00 EVEtime. Hosted by our friendly CSM member Mangala. Channel: RvB Ganked
b. Spectre Fleet - Haven't really flown with them yet so no idea when their prime fleets are etc. Channel: Spectre fleet
c. Redemption Road - Hosts multiple public events. Started up by former Agony member Greygal. Main roams are Mate roams on Friday during Aussie timezone and Sunday Sinners on Sundays around 19:00. Channel: Redemption Road

Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Help channel: Help chat - Reloaded

Public roams channels: RvB Ganked / Redemption Road / Spectre Fleet / Bombers bar / The Content Club

Sounds like you like sneaking around dangerous space, harvesting its resources while mostly avoiding fights but being ready for them.

In my opinion, the best ships for this at the moment are the Ishtar and Gila. Your missile and shield skills will transfer well to the Gila, so I would suggest looking into it as a medium-term training goal. (You will need to train tech 2 medium drones for the Gila to perform well; the Ishtar requires much more training from where you are now as it requires T2 sentry drones and ideally heavies as well).

The Gila is a very strong ship in lowsec combat sites and the Ishtar is even better. But, you'd continue to use other ships for probing, running data sites and other tasks.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

It all boils down to this question, as always : how do you make money regulary ?
Whatever you want to do in EVE, it falls into one of the two categories, at least at start, until you've found your style and balance : the activities which cost money, and the activities which bring money regulary to finance the first category.
My advice would be : keep a way to make enough regular money, whatever path you decide to choose for your fun.
Example : maybe you'd love to be a support pilot, logistic, you know, the "healer".
That's great, but how do you make money with that ? Not sure if you can... so maybe you need a secondary activity like missioning, or ratting, or explo, or trade or whatever which secures your wallet.
Else, for the fun to fly solo in low sec, what about Assault Frigates ? they are T2 but they are really cheap.

Gallente ships tend to be brawlers...

A dedicated prober can make good isk in wormholes. Most W-space corps have a rule that the "content finders" take their pick of loot after the fray. Its mostly solo and rewarding.

I dislike drones as a primary but I don't hate them. Gila is a ship I looked at but I didn't know if it was gimmicky or could actually make a good go of it.

I appreciate all your advice, given me good ideas for things to try and ships to look into.
