Probe Scanning without Wormholes wasting my time..?

I have tried making filters and checking only Data and Relic, but Wormhole signals still show up in my scans. Have also tried un-checking Wormholes on the "Show All" filter, with the same results - Wormholes still show up.

Please tell me how I can scan without having to spend 5 minutes pinpointing a Signature that turns out to be a Wormhole 90% of the time.

Thank You

The filter wont work until after the it knows it's a wormhole

This simply results in a signatures disappearing once it gets to about 25% or something

The filters only kick in once you have identified a signature, they won't filters out unidentified sigs. As such they are pretty useless.

If it is taking you 5 minutes to scan down a single signature you're probably doing something wrong, and/or your skills are horrible. I suggest you get your astrometric skills (astrometrics, astrometric rangefinding and astrometric pinpointing) and your racial frigate skills to at least 3 (and use a scanning frig.) At that level your first or second scan should tell you what kind of sig it is, then you can manually ignore it and only pinpoint the interesting sigs.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, my scanning skills are indeed poor; I didn't want to waste time training them to only find wormholes.

But, if it really will become a lot quicker to scan, then I will train them up for a while and then give it another go in a week or two to see how it goes.

Also. ...

CCP just increased the amount of low sec to low sec direct wormholes. You should check them out and see if they happen to lead you into better space. Scan there for an hour then hop back through

If you're scanning in highsec, the difficulty is that because highsec data and relic sites are easy and safe, they get eaten up very quickly in even moderately high-traffic areas, whereas wormholes stick around for their full lifespan. Since (as far as I can tell) they respawn at random in other same-security areas, off the beaten track in highsec, you might find an accumulation of data/relic sites waiting.

Skills take time, but buying stuff doesn't; if you're willing to drop a bit of money, you can fit Gravity Capacitor Upgrade rigs (cheap as dirt with a decent bonus to scanning), a midslot scan array (but midslots are in short supply on scanning frigates), and use Sisters probes (yes, 4 million a set sounds like a lot, but even in highsec one halfway decent site will pay for that more than once).

I've not done probing since before Odyssey [which had many changes to probing], wormholes were always the easiest to identify based on their signature strength: they tended to be large with a high signal strength. There were exceptions, but not many.

All the good stuff tended to be small / have the weakest signatures, so I always sorted from weakest to strongest.
