I was wondering what people thought about having ship fuel in EVE Online?

It's called capacitor.

Assume that every ship you buy is capable of producing enough cap energy to run the engines at all times, including when you're completely neuted out because the engines run on a separate independent system. This is something the manufacturer considered a necessary safety for ensuring the ship and the crew could survive in extreme and/or hostile conditions, and has become an industry standard.

from an immersion perspective its not a terrible idea, but from a gameplay perspective its bad, really bad.

the game already has plenty of obstacles between getting isk and having fun blowing it up. starting with terrible medical clone mechanics, jumpclones, implants, rigs, gatecamps, undocks, etc, etc.

Because lets just kick wormhole players in the teeth some more, right?

Not to mention, whatever this is made out of, the ship fuel would become the priority, involving everything else using a similar medium (PI/ice) to skyrocket in price to levels unheard of.

But no seriously, it would be terrible, would really hate to have to PLEX a LOT all because i dont mission much and instead pvp, and cant make anywhere NEAR enough to not only replace ships but REFUEL daily.

Off topic. (I know I shouldn't but I love pointing this out) People will b***h about paying over $4/gal for gas, but don't blink twice about paying over $10/gal for bottled water. Think about that.

@OP: This idea would kill wormhole corps, as stated above, and will cause more tears to be shed by carebears who forget to refuel their 4bil isk mission runner than would be shed if CCP were to suddenly remove concord from the game... well, maybe not that many tears, but close.
