Muh Rorquals - Concept for CCP

Ship: Rorqual
Module: Industrial Core

Concept: When a Rorqual uses its industrial core, a 15km shield activates around the Rorqual. Any ship can enter the FF, but while inside the shield you cannot target anything. Only the Rorqual has the ability to target ships inside, and outside the shields. In order to deactivate the shield, the Rorqual must run out of the fuel it uses to keep the shield up or the Rorqual must be destroyed.

Things:

  • Rorqual burns X amount of fuel for every cycle of its industrial core
  • Activation of the core gives the Rorqual some form of resist bonus
  • The core cannot be activated within 20km of a gate or station
  • The core cannot be activated within 20km of a PoS Shield
  • Drones cannot be dropped outside the shield and assigned to the Rorqual, as soon as the ship that dropped the drones re-enters the shield, the drones deactivate


So, Why? This would give the Rorqual a new and exciting use in the game. Not only will it be able to keep its current ore compression feature, but it will also reinforce its role of a logistics capital ship. Think about all the opportunities to use this that will arise.

All rorq needs to be a viable boat after the cahnge is the ability to LITERALLY eat asteroids.

Rorq drives up to a belt, has to be moving to do this, and only things its moving toward get "eaten", but it is allowed to eat up to 50k, maybe 100k of "asteroids" that it then has to spend 10 minutes refining into raw minerals with skills based purely on pilots refine skills (or maybe some modules in highs that increase the yield).

Then maybe have a T2 variant that can do the same reprocessing, but against battleship and smaller ships XD that'd be hilarious to fight
