Animation for when the asteroid becomes depleted

Currently, when the asteroid becomes depleted it just disappears, no matter how big it was. Massive rocks of Veldspar, for example, that can be a hundred times bigger than your mining ship just vanish when they are depleted.

I don't know if this was ever mentioned (please post a link if you have some info), but it would be nice to have the rock degrade or fall apart in some way when it gets depleted.

I like the idea, but wouldn't it require massive processing power?

Definitely. And I don't see how it would require much processing power. As stated in my topic, the new gas clouds and wrecks of cap ships don't really strain your GPU all that much compared to the old clouds. And with regards to the synchronization between clients, it would (for my understanding) only need a simple signal to trigger the client-side graphical effects.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

I wouldn't claim to have read every thread that goes through this forum but I certainly have read a lot and I haven't read this before. Personally, I think it's a good idea from an aesthetic perspective and would add no additional load on the server so I see no real problems with it.

+1

EDIT - hahahaha. Except the post from Rivr Luzade, of course, which I have obviously missed entirely Big smile

The same reason why we are getting updated Solar flares in Kronos, for example SmileCool

like the idea.

cant imagine it taking much.

also, hilarious 'loot spew'-like last chance mining as the rocks break apart. F U botters.

Watch the rock crumble and make dust clouds when below um 1000 m3 for a 50000 m3. And go to a dust cloud over a 60 sec time when emptied.
