With the gamma adjustment setting coming in Kronos, I thought I would ask for similar feature for adjusting image sharpness.

I used to use sharpness/gamma/etc adjustment settings of my desktop PC's Nvidia Control Panel, but those settings are missing from the NCP of the laptop I recently switched to. I have learned there are other people also missing these settings in their graphics card software, so I guess there are some EVE players too who would find ingame sharpness adjustment setting useful.

Sharpness settings are useless on a monitor that is fed with images in its native resolution.

The only thing sharpness does in other content is double contours and loss of detail for a subjective/perceived boost in sharpness (as the human brain works off of differences not absolute levels).

I also want to use this moment to thank Samsung as the forerunner in giving people the impression that totally overblown and oversaturated pictures are the way pictures have to look.

Well sharpness adjustment does change image characteristics to the point where it is more aesthetically pleasing for quite a few people, and I guess that is the point of this. And this has worked for me on native resolutions just fine.

I originally agreed with Thercon, but I decided to test sharpening on a screenshot from EVE, and found it responds well to Smart Sharpen even at rather obscene levels (75%, 1px), actually improving the perceived image quality. Especially ship lights and textures benefited from sharpening, but edges remained free of artifacts.

However Smart Sharpen is an advanced algorithm performed by dedicated software (PS CC) and I'm uncertain how EVE engine or the graphics card would manage this level of quality on real-time rendering.

This here is basically how I treat my EVE screens: http://goo.gl/N9ALzV / http://goo.gl/j8pRgc

Sharpness+photo filter applied = they look much more real and cinematic.

And that is the image I would like to have while playing the game. I have not been able to find any software that would enable me ro set photo filter to my notebook's screen image (with the exeption of a single and simplistic 'color overlay' app) so I am not sure if that would be possible for EVE, but I remember adjusting sharpness via my previous PC's Nvidia Control Panel, so at least that should be possible.
