Hello.
It's my intention to anchor my first POS in a system my alliance holds sov.
This POS will be used solely as a Safe place to warp to in case hostiles jump in system.
I have a few questions:

- What would be the advisable Race and size of said POS for this specific use?

-What structures should be anchored to store fitted ships, and maybe loot?

-How much Isk in Fuel you think it will cost per month to keep it running?

-What guns would you recommend anchoring for said POS?

I think i asked all the questions but if you feel I should know something else pls advise.

"This POS will be used solely as a Safe place to warp to in case hostiles jump in system."

For that purpose alone, a small tower with shield hardeners and stront is sufficient.

If you intend on storing loot there and ships there you're no longer talking about simply a safe place.

Fuel cost * consumption, I'm sure you can figure this one out since the game gives you both values....

I want to store a carrier in there. What structure can hold a carrier?

A carrier? Well, that's quite a bit different than simply a safe place :P

For that purpose I would recommend a large tower at a minimum. For which racial tower choose the easiest to supply ice products from your region. At work so I am unable to assist with a link, but there are good POS building tools for the web browser that can give you the cost of fuel (accounting for SOV savings) as well as let you see exactly how many fittings you can put on. For loot storage you'll need a corp/personal hangar and if you intend to store the carrier at the tower you'll need a ship maintenance capable of storing it (without double checking you would be looking at a X-Large though a regular ship maintenance may have room).

Should be lots of info out there already on POS setups as well that can go more in depth than I'll have the time to go over right now. Search function my friend!

Ship Maintenance Array Capacity: 20,000,000 m3
Thanatos : 13,095,000 m3

So i think it will fit in there. So I wont need a X-Large Ship Maintenance Array according to the numbers.

Storing a carrier in a pos is asking for someone to come relieve you of it. If you just need a safe spot a small tower works fine. Hell you can toss up a corp hanger array to dump loot into.

Remember these things when it comes to dropping a tower.

1. Anyone with the roles has access to it. Most poses other then super/titan towers have guidelines on how they have to be set.

2. A good way to lose your tower is to let it run low on fuel. I personally would rather remove the stront, drop the shield and kill a "members tower" Then receive 800 messages about it. I might even toss you a bill on the jump fuel moving my caps to kill it.

3. Having a safe tower and ratting in a carrier is a good way for people to do things like anchor a bubble offgrid on a warp in to the tower in the hopes of catching you cynoing up and killing you with a blops fleet.

Without looking a small tower runs about 100m a month to fuel. Mediums are 200m and larges are 400m. So unless you plan on making isk off the tower as well a small will be your best bet.
