One thing that I have noticed that is missing from the game is a background downloader. Instead of downloading one big patch when it is deployed where the entire player base downloads at pretty much the same time, make it so that the patch is downloaded slowly over time while the game is being played. Then when the patch is released, all that needs to happen is to have the patch turned on in the server so the patch is applied to the client. This should significantly reduce the load on the network and the servers during patch day, and it should make it significantly faster for the players to get online into the game because the downloading step has already been completed.
