I have greatly appreciated the help of other independent pilots who have contacted me and alerted me to the presence of deathcans in my patrol area. Today I was off duty when a message came in about two deathcans in Diaderi. The standby crew for the Beacon was already on board and we got to site in short order and made the rescue. In this case 19 people were saved simply because a pilot took the time to send a short message.

The Slaves were obtained at the Amarr-Caldari border and flown back to Mehatoor, where the sacrificial chamber in my Ashimmu-class SS Bloodletter awaited them.

Capsuleers are not generally trusted by non-capsuleers. This is a continual challenge in our work. I've had time to think a little more about recent reports of heavy battle drones being gifted to capsuleer pilots on a broad basis by Concord authorities. Concord likely has two goals in this move. Goal one: to encourage an equip capsuleers to destroy pirate infestations, sansha infestations and rogue drone infestations within local systems and; Goal two: to encourage and equip capsuleers to fight each other. The second goal fits with Concord's long-standing strategy to control the capsuleer and it is a very effective strategy. Were we to receive such drones, they would immediately be locked down at our weapons lockdown facility in Bahromab. This is likely know and also why we have not received any such weapons.

The Pacifist has a good crew with good ideas. There off hours have not been idol. Pre-duty briefings often generate new ideas for efficient and effective rescue techniques. The dual deathcan rescue above is an example of scenario discussed stationside of cans outside of transport range from each other and strategies to rescue both without undue danger. Kudos to the crew of the Pacifist on this one.

Our Kaap center now has 55 slavers on detention there and so it will be time to transfer them to Yulai soon. Once again I will repeat: The slavers we rescue tell us that if tried and convicted of cross border slave trading or attempted cross border slave trading in violation of treaty, they would be subject to execution and their families enslaved. This we cannot condone nor enable. Those detained by DSTON are treated humanely and protected from the death penalty and generational slavery.

I am ready to post a preliminary report from the summit in Yulai. As soon as I finish this post, I will go ahead and post my report in the DSTON thread. Some time in the near future, Ston will begin arrangements for the transfer of another group of Kameiras to the PIE re-assignment program. While we do not participate in this program without dissonance, it is the best solution we can see to this point.

I apologize for getting behind in my reporting. This particular rescue from several days back appeared to be a deliberate attempt to traffic cross borders in violation of treaty. While those technically employed as exotic dancers and not legally slaves, they are often found along with slave shipments destined for prostitution in Jita. We are happy to present them the possibility for a different life if they should choose and even if not, we are glad to have rescued them.

Rescues continue at a somewhat slower pace recently. DSTON development has suggested that we may need to devote less time to patrols and more time to M-Center Administration. Recent reports of ethnic and social unrest in Capsuleer established communities has heightened our awareness of the need to more fastidious oversight. I anticipate adjusted guidelines for administrative time expectations at the next Development meeting.

Unintentional objectifications and generalizations: These are mental judgments I am trying to tame. Mental habits can be so subtlety tenacious and many times I'm unaware that I am doing it until I hear myself verbalize them. Yikes, did I really think that? Although some level of generalization is need to effectively function within an organization even as a level of healthy compartmentalization is needed to function within a role, when the day's tasks are completed it is good to take a more self-critical look at such things. Maybe that can be done over a cup of coffee at the local café.

Productive and dare I say "happy" life cannot proceed when the soul is dominated by hate, vengeful thoughts and obsession with getting even. These darks aspirations must die and be replaced with the light of a higher evolved sense of survival. We must begin to establish violence as an aberration and the vestige of a lower state. We know that humanity is far from this, but to press for it is the beginning of all things worth achieving. For those who have never thought of peace as a possibility, start thinking in that direction.

50 people here are happy to be alive and looking at new possibilities in life.

What is the feeling of betrayal? I've been trying to get my head around that emotion for a while as it is often used to describe how deathcan victims feel. Its not as if there was any trust between the capsuleer pilot and his or passengers. Yet, those in the deathcan feel betrayed. In fact, they feel so even more than from a cruel slave master. Something about the discarding of their lives as if nothing more that a crumpled up candy wrapper tossed in to the bin. This seems to be at the root of the feeling of betrayal. It is a powerful and tenacious emotion. Our counselors spend much time helping deathcan victims cope with it and move beyond it.

I have a counterpart to this. Most of the time, when I have a slave rescued from a jetcan stripped from the waist up and strapped to the Altar of God and the Knife of God raised over him, the slave squirms and panics and squeals in horror. But every now and again, I see different emotions: serenity, peace, even satisfaction. I think I can explain why. Until this moment, these filthy Minmatar subhumans have never understood any higher purpose in their lives, and some of them chase after false gods like "freedom" and feel defeated (or betrayed as the Disciple of Molok says upthread) when they fail to attain it. But strapped to the altar, in that moment they learn their true purpose: to glorify God in their destruction. I have happy performed this service for these few slaves who learn the meaning of their existence in the moments I plunge the Knife of God through their chests.

I had almost forgotten that I promised to tell a bit more of the story. Some time back, Ms. Aspenstar was able to visit the very facility where this particular event took place. Ston Momaki was conducting a tour I believe at the time. I only briefly interacted with you and the other pilot involved. You would be very familiar with the station and the infrastructure of the station so perhaps you can understand the happening I am about to describe. It has brought about some changes in security, training and more administrative duties assigned to us as capsuleer managers of the M-Centers.

Our first test was what to do with a rescued person who eschews our offers of help after the rescue. If we are serious about encouraging independence and autonomy, do we force those we rescue into a fixed process if they are clearly opposed to it? This particular man thanked us for the rescue but requested no further help once on board the station. We protested of course and explained the common sense of what we do in the M-Center, etc. Nevertheless, he said, "I will take my leave of you unless you intend to force me otherwise." We had never had this occur before an with such articulation. I quickly assigned an associate manager to shadow him, convinced that he was not perhaps in his right mind. However, the deathcan rescuee promptly disappeared and we could not find him. We contacted station security and explained what was happening asking for due care to be given. At the end of six hours, no one had seen any trace of the individual.

Long story short...This former slave had been a personal assistant to a station manager in a similar station infrastructure in Amarrian space. He knew the the place inside and out and was able not only to avoid detection but also to observe our coming, going, and fretting all the while. At the end of better part of a day, he resurfaced at our reception office of his own accord. Basically, he wanted to check us out without our control before he had anything to do with any so-called Matriculation Program, no matter how benevolent our claims. In the end he was comfortable with our motive but highly critical of our security. We received a gentle but rather pointed lecture on the need to better govern our facilities considering the growing size and scope of our programs.

We asked if he would interested in joining our management team and to be paid for it. He agreed though did not quite understand the motivation of pay.

Gang violence is something we witness at least once per week in our patrol areas. It is a sort of violent behavior that reveals the worst part of human character. Pilots seeks to kill but not in brave defense of values, country or ideal. They merely gang up on others, provoke or trick others and strike solely for the "fun" of destruction. It has always been and continues to be something we abhor.
