Currently, there are only 5 skills in the Planetary Management category, one of which (Remote Scanning) isn't much of a godsend and another (Advanced Planetology) which is just an extension of Planetology. Customs Code Expertise is hardly any use once you move out of high-sec.

Generally speaking, I'd like to see more PI-related skills. These are just some suggestions:

  • A skill to reduce the ISK cost of building structures. This would help to reduce the overhead cost of managing a planet, especially on gas giants where you often find yourself having to upheave your entire installation once resources are depleted. I propose a 15% reduction per level, to a maximum of 75% at Level V.

  • A skill which allows you to offload some powergrid usage to your CPU. I have yet to be in a scenario in which I have had insufficient CPU on a planet, but am almost always short on power. This skill would give our CPU grid a purpose. I propose 5% offload per level, with a maximum of 25% at Level V.

  • A skill to directly increase extractor yield by 2% per level.

Thoughts, suggestions?

I'm not a heavy PI user so I won't make any suggestions in terms of skills but I agree with the fact that there should be more room for specialization in this. Right now it's really easy to max out a character for PI. It should remain fairly easy and quick to get started and be efficient, but being completely optimized should take a long time, like most other professions in the game.

A skill that reduces cooldown of expedited transfers and a skill that reduces cooldown of launches and increases orbit time of launched packets.

Some sort of nullsec system upgrades for planets, similar to anoms/grav sites/sigs. Upgrades could increase base amount of materials on planets, regen time, and so on.

It's crazy that I am capable of bleeding a plasma planet dry in a -1.0 system on 14 day cycles with a single character. Damned noble metals.

Some pretty good ideas in this thread so far.

What about allowing for a corporate hangar within the POCO? that way i can share my exported goods with a corpmate or alt without having to transport to a station and back. This would still cost the import/export fees but remove the tedious shuttling of goods back and forth.

This would also open up additional revenue streams for POCO owners, and also provide a PVP element against people doing PI. Know a corp that heavily uses a corp hangar in a POCO? Blow up that POCO!

I believe there are/will be bonuses like this through Dust 514's planetary conquest/faction warfare tie ins.
