Salvage drones overhaul

1) add T2 salvage drones with same access to wrecks as salvager II modules (basically avoid the endless loop in which they try to access a wreck and keep trying forever).

2) make it when you hit "salvage" on drone flight without locked target and they auto salvaging that no more then 1 drone per wreck and hence maximizing their only benefit over normal salvager modules which is salvaging loads of wrecks without too much effort.

I agree that salvage drones are terribad. They are however, greatly improved when used in conjunction with a mobile tractor unit.

id say yes to drones auto salvaging the field.

no to them auto assigning one per wreck. if u want to salvage efficiently, do the work.

this is how I do it. I deploy MTU and after all rats are dead I deploy salvage drones.

But above all else one thing which bothers me with salvage drones is the endless loop, let's say you try to salvage commander wreck and your skill is too low, instead of failed message the are in endless loop :X

was ninja'd...

Salvager module got loads of better chances then salvage drones with salvage drones skill to 5, the big perk about drones is to give some simple way to salvage on non salvaging ship with much lower chances, hence assigning 1 drone per wreck is acceptable I guess.
At any rate anyone will lock target and assign one drone anyway...

No, there should always be a greater incentive to sacrifice a high slot for a salvager. Bumping a T2 drone variation up a bit would be ok but not to the same level as a T2 salvager module.

doing the work, getting the benefits. im ok with that.

not ok with an afk salvager, salvaging as fast and/or as efficiently as an active one.

i believe having drones auto salvage the field after being activated the first time but not efficiently/intelligently assigning themselves to wrecks is a happy compromise.

its the same thinking as to why an MTU always targets the closest tractor-able object, rather than being intelligent

Normal salvage module is already 100 times better but there is some kind of bug with salvage drones in which on some wrecks they will attempt to salvage forever in endless loop hence I offered some way to fix it.
Access =\\= Success.

The only things Salvage Drones can't salvage if you bother to train them properly is Elite Sleeper wrecks already.
If you are getting stuck in a loop & you aren't in WH space, train more.
T2 would require level 5 anyway, so I'm pretty sure you just haven't skilled.

You can get a T1 Salvager stuck in an endless loop if you don't bother to skill it also.

Now, more appropriate might be for all salvagers including drones to return a 'This object is beyond your ability to access' and then the drone to find a new target & the salvager deactivate.
And change the default message to 'This object requires more time to access' rather than 'failed' to give clearer feedback to the player.

I thought CCP had fixed that several expansions back - on my alt I get that message or something silimar when I try to salvage a T2 wreck.

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it [u]WILL[/u] be.

I plan to get it to V at some point but lack of T2 ones and fact that normal salvage modules are much more sexy then that turns me off.
