I remember long ago there was a thread like this. It was about "DUST 514" - CCP TM'ed it and people were wondering "what does that mean? DUST 514? What is that?"

And some even said "It could mean something, or nothing".


Legion... heh.... Good thing they didn't TM "Horde".

I am completely okay with an expansion focussed solely on legion buffs and fixes. God knows it needs them.

I don't see the association with EvE. Unless the Amarran T3 is getting an über-buff and the next expansion revolves around that, it's more likely "Legion" is DUST related. ...so it's coming to the F2P PC arena... may as well.

I will agree that that post was made out of a rather large amount of cynicism. I would like to be shown to be wrong, but from what I have witnessed from CCP over the last nine or so years... I think I have the right to be hugely cynical with anything CCP does.

It's a common procedure in the games industry to capture the trademark for a new project ahead of time; there are a lot of reasons to do it, but it's usually done because of the legal requirements of contracts and financial investments (i.e,registering a trademark gives the investors a 'legal entity' into which they can invest).
