I recently returned to Eve after a short break while RL calmed the heck down.
Prior to my absence, I was in HiSec, inventing and producing the Hulk & Mackinaw at a fairly good clip for my small operation (about 6 of each a month).

I would mine & build the T1 hulls, run inventions with decryptors, purchase the needed moon comps, building the parts at the POS and do final assembly in a local station.

The profit margin was acceptable and all was well ...

Now I've returned and figured I'd crank up the lines again. (my mistake here) but, I didn't check out everything closely before starting and I was pretty happy with the returns I got on the new (renamed?) decryptors so, I began gathering the moon comps.

Lo and behold, WTF is this new one? Photonic Metamaterials ???
This fricken thing blows my profitability out of the water.

Okay, I'm done whining as I should have paid more attention up front but, this sure has been a kick in the groin.

Just makes me wonder if the upcoming industry changes will completely spank my existing building plans.
I'll just wait and see, I may have to completely change my manufacturing plan to fit the new changes (adapt or die, it is Eve after all). I guess I'm just (slightly) bitter after the large capital investment I put in.

Okay ... now I really am done whining.

You did notice that the moon mats required by some of the components was reduced?

Let's see... Rough calcs, Mach showing about 15 million profit with a Process decryptor, Hulk about 10 million.

I think, as you well know, that your biggest problem was that you did not check prior to manufacture.

This is a multiplayer game, running figures through excel is the golden rule of manufacture.

You are so right, I neglected to update my spreadsheets and check things first ... just dove in thinking CCP would never make industry changes - lol

Needless to say, I am correcting that error.

I noticed this one too when I fired up my production lines after a leave-of-absence of about a year.

(I did check profitability before, never trust CCP - so I'm nicely in the black)

But. yeah. I am guessing this was part of some moon-goo rebalancing or something, can someone point me to where this change was described? Thanks.
