I am sitting in a café on the Proteque station in Tourier drinking a cup of bad coffee waiting for my auto-translator to self-diagnose and hopefully fix itself. In the meantime, I can understand nothing of what is going on through the station PA. Although, I would very much like to meet the person giving the announcements. It is a very well-trained voice.

The announcement translates as follows: " Emergency crews to reactor two. Class one breach of containment field. All persons must evacuate immediately."

A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go.

As to the translation that would likely be true at some of the Matari stations in the area (cf Core Complexion in Zoohen) but not at Proteque. Their Stations are top notch There it may be paid adverts or something. I recommend staying clear of the any overnights in Core Complexion. "System Failures" are common. I am familiar with the voice he refers to in Proteque and I believe it is supposed to be un-translated. Maybe its subliminal.

For most of those that I rescue, I am the first capsuleer that they actually have met. Unless the rescued group is very large, each DSTON pilot makes a point to interact with the rescued people after the rescue. A a general rule, capsuleer pilots transporting baseliner passengers seldom if ever see the passengers they transport. Crew members do, but not the pilots. Most are safely tucked away in their sterile eggs before and after any real human passengers board or egress their craft. Its funny the things people fear. "If I hold a child's hand, I might catch something..." Well, maybe so but wouldn't you rather experience the humanity rather than fearing if he just sneezed in his hand? Oh how fearful the capsuleer has become of the ordinary. O how we have defined fear into our definition of extraordinary. But this diminishes our potential to positively impact our cultures and greater collection of cultures in our cluster.

An initial medical exam is routine after a rescue and each person receives appropriate care to remedy any injuries, treat infections, and provide for proper and remedial nutrition. We've had this happen before, but it is always disturbing. Elite slaves, who are used for demanding physical labor, are often in bad condition when we rescue them. Battered by years of unrelenting brutal labor, they are often worn beyond their years. We usually guess their age much higher than it is. This man was 35 years of age, but we thought him to be between 45-50. Stress fractures, compacted vertebrae, chemical induced skin disorders and overall just worn out; that is how I would describe this single deathcan victim. We suggested that he stay in the med facility for at least 24 hours, but he insisted on joining other recently rescued people in the Agridome. We suspected and he confirmed that since he was past his usefulness as a laborer, he was on his way to be traded in the illegal medical/pharmaceutical slave market in the State, likely in the catacombs of Jita 4/4.

I have received a communique from a pilot contact regarding a number of homeless persons in need of shelter. The initial report is between 300-500 individuals. Since this is a very broad generalization, we are prepping the Ation Center for the higher end of that number. It seems the homeless situation is worsening in some areas and agents are regularly hiring capsuleer pilots to basically dispose of these people by dumping them in station after station. We will provide long term care education/training and community for these people and sometimes whole families. The resources required are small on a relative scale.

How easily we make assumptions about people on the basis of their looks, race, family background, citizenship, etc. But often, our assumptions are wrong; sometimes very wrong. In my own family, for example, are widely divergent beliefs religiously, politically and economically. Do we kill each other over it? No. My sister is the consummate pagan and her spirituality is very different from my own theism. Neither of us is threatened by the other and we love each other as a brother and sister ought. We know what boundaries to set when we are together and what lines need not be crossed in conversation. Keeping peace isn't rocket science but it does take discipline and intention. If we do not start to apply these disciplines in our cluster and across our cultures we will extinguish ourselves. Many particulars in such a task are sticky but we can begin by marginalizing the extremes and coalescing the center.

Work that pays a living wage and some extra so a man or a woman can provide some happiness to family... These are basics of dignity that humans need in order to thrive. Yet, it is so often denied in order that a tiny minority may live in obscene opulence. This opulence is often justified as the means to provide a living for others. Unfortunately, this "living" is calculated to barely enable those who slave for it the ability to survive. Far from thriving, the masses languish away in survival mode while the opulent purse their lips and justify themselves as saviors and benefactors.

Some dignifying values:
Immediate work that pays well
Education in personal financial management
Good health care
Dignifying all aspects of work, intellectual and physical and enabling growth in the same

These are a few of the touchstones of what we try to establish and maintain in our communities.

Tahrmal is returning to the Niarja patrol zone soon and I will be deployed for a short time in our HQ in Yulai for the purpose of equipping a standby fleet so that we can react quickly to any ship losses. The goal of this is to lose as little time as possible in recovery after a loss. After finishing that work, Development will decide on my next deployment.

I have been redeployed to the Niarja corridor and am back in command of the DSS Plowshare. I commend her crew for their hard work and dutiful performance under the command of Captain Todako. Command transition was seemless yesterday and patrols resumed as usual. Manwe is off to HQ for administrative and logistics work with our rescue fleet expansion plans. I will be meeting with Ston in the next few days to review the M-Center books here in Kaap and to consolidate jurisdiction under his management here. We are, for now, suspending active patrols in the Mandate/Republic corridor do to a near standstill in deathcan occurrences there.

On this rescue there were two deathcans, but before we could get in transport range, one disintegrated. There is a collective gasp among crews and pilots when such a thing is witnessed. It is bound to happen from time to time, but it is always felt as a deep tragedy. We treasure the three we were able to rescue all the more.

Runaway slaves are still, in the eyes of the Kingdom, the property of their Holders. To avoid diplomatic repercussions, they should be returned to their proper owners.

Yes we do. We offer asylum and shelter for many and protection from those who may do violence to them. Contact any disciple to arrange reception.

I was witness to some violent waste today for which there is little redeeming value. The crews that were lost in the destruction of multiple cruisers and the unsuspecting industrial are grieved and the loss could have been completely avoided. The only redeeming thing out of it was that the DSS Plowshare and her crew were able to confiscate several million ISK in weapons and deliver them to our lockdown facility in Baromab. Never again will these weapons, ammo and warfare modules be used to take lives. We had hoped to find survivors but unfortunately no signatures were detected. We hope some crews were able to escape the carnage.

Two Disciples are on active patrol rotation and one is on administrative duty. To the one on administrative duty falls a myriad of tasks including transport of passengers, refugees and materials to the various centers operated by DSTON. Pilots occasionally request that we take in refugees obtained by a number of different circumstances. This report covers some of that and falls under the basic category of M-Center reporting.

1293 homeless men, women and children were transported to the Ation Shelter.

840 war refugees were transported to the Ation Shelter.

Over 2300 conscientious objectors were given asylum at our Yulai facilities.

Several new hires were transported to their new duties and orientation in Yulai. These include forensic experts and recent graduates in the various sciences.

20 Slaves were among those transported. Since this required direct station transfer, I was able to meet in person the pilot who arranged all of these new additions. He shall remain anonymous, but I feel it necessary to note that along with all these people, he also provided tons of material support. We appreciate that.

Finally, 2,000 tons of polytextiles ordered by the Mannar and Coriault groups were delivered to Ation. 2,000 tons! Yes. Just what they will do with all that material, we don't know. Some mention was made of improving the style and appearance of those in our M-Centers.

The vast majority of abandoned vessels are rookie frigates with nothing on board but nominal miner, small weapon and a little tritanium in the cargo hold. These vessels are ususally singly piloted with no crew. However, now and then we come across abandoned ships with crew aboard. Sometimes there are no escape pods or the crew is injured, confused and unaware that their pilot has abandoned them to perish in space. Aware of this, we have made it our practice to return and secure these vessels, removing them from spacelanes and station exit lanes. Rarely, but sometimes, we also confiscate larger weapons and ammo in the process. I have encouraged the other Disciples to report these activities in their regular log reports.

Most of our rescues are under 100 people in size. Yesterday, the deathcan with 207 on board was the exception to our normal activity. We are glad to rescue all who are abandoned whether few or many.
