Noob T2 manufacturing question

How do T2 manufacturers make profit?

Today I looked at a Sleipnir BPC in anticipation of high end T2 manufacturing. The Sleipnir is on sale for 274m at my local trade hub. When I added up all the components from the BPC (ME -3) I ended up at 341m. My Material Effiency skill is at 5 of course.

Am I something missing here? As far as I am aware you cannot research ME on a BPC so there is no way to cut the costs? At eve-market.com you cannot even select ME -3 as an option, it has to be 0 or higher.

I mean I wouldn't wonder if there was a small loss, but 274m vs 341m is just inexplainable to me...

The secret is in decryptors and the price of your ingredients. And most T2 manufacturers sell with too little margins, undervaluing their time IMHO.

Hm, so you are saying it is only worth if one chooses a high ME decryptor (for this item)? And all the ME -3 BPCs sold via contracts are crap? Well, I guess I need to make my own experiences with invention. And not wonder about people who try to sell silly BPCs...

Don't forget that you can make your own Components :)

Surprisingly, the profit is not always in the final step :)

Why do you think the inventor sells them rather than manufacturing from them Big smile

If you are just starting out in T2, stay away from ships! That's not because I don't want a competitor, it's because they are high cost, low movement items and not all make a profit at all, even with the best decryptor you'll find.

Mods, drones, ammo to start. Ships when you want to gamble with your ISK.

Don't forget the invention calculator at the bottom, so you can see the effects on your isk/hr of each decryptor (tick the box to subtract the invention costs) When picking a decryptor, it'll adjust the ML and PL appropriately.
