Overall I love the Gallente ships. Greatly improved.

Caldari ships are too dark. They look nice in station or in some of the very bright systems but they otherwise look like dark blobs. What is the point of the V3 texture remodel if the ship is no longer visible?

For the record I started a thread complaining about this on the test server forums and was basically told by everyone "Shut up space is dark".

Thats becasue Space is dark. I think the new Caldari ships are epic.

I don't know WHERE you're looking at them (probably out in 0.0 space?), but to me they certainly don't all seem "jet black".
In fact, even the Crane (which is the darkest of them all) doesn't seem jet black either.

Badger I - gunmetal grey : http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/4705/1badgeri.jpg

Badger II - gunmetal grey : http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/5296/2badgerii.jpg

Crane - very dark grey but not quite black, with red splats : http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/9545/3crane.jpg

Bustard - light sepia, with dark ochre stripes : http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/9181/4bustard.jpg

There's a difference between polished Caldari gunmetal and black spray-paint.

Tengu is an example of good-looking V3 Caldari gunmetal:

The new Osprey is an example of this spray-paint style I don't like:

Naga:

My Osprey in Jita:

All images except first Tengu (I don't own a Tengu to screencap in a hangar) are my own screencaps. You can see in the Naga picture that bright backgrounds obscure detail just as much as dark ones. The ships are simply too dark.

I hope these images make my point clearer, and show what I mean by the black paint vs. dark metals. No ship in Trinity was ever this dark in space, because the hulls reflected light better, even on Kaalakiota ships.

If CCP wants dark, I would prefer polished dark gunmetal, like what's on the V3 Tengu, instead of the Naga's dull black paint job. Smile

totally agree with this. Many of the Caldari ships are too dark and your pics show this perfectly. Yes space is dark but eve is not ALL about realism. I would like to be able to see my ship when flying in space (unless i'm cloaked)

I must admit looking over my ships yesterday most were pretty decent...big thumbs up for those.
What has been done to the CNR tho....from a really nice smooth green/brown camoflage effect its gone to a black/grey/white one.
While this color scheme is probably better for space it seems awfully blocky and pixellated almost when you zoom in to it.
Is it intended to be like this ?
Got to say i'm not totally convinced so far on that one
