That is, first person actual hiding and weapons lines, actual newtonian physics...
And then the Dust code was used for instation fun

Bye bye EVE. If I wanted to play and FPS game I would be playing that instead of EVE.

CCP will make one asteroid field and you will shoot everything what is colored red there.

When I first started in EVE, the lack of control annoyed me. Now I accept EVE as it is. If they want to base another space game in the same space type, no worries, but trying to compete with hardcore FPS folks as I trundle along in my cruiser would be even less fun than trying to get a freighter through low sec . EVE online has a huge following and a respectable history. It is what it is, so let it be. As long as its seperate, I might give valk a try if they have a single player game attached... I was never the king of FPS and I'm out of practice P

Flashman is fun sure.

But it overheats. I'd shoot it with my Minmatar Jagermech (all Autocannons, ALL the time) and plink it to death Big smile .Also, thank you for the excuse to visit Sarna.net again lol.

If your Flashman is overheating, you aren't using it right.

Try the double-strength Freezers, they are delicious

it would help the game immensely.

edit:ShockedIdeawhat if i could launch them from orbit (like in that popular ea shooter) ?! Off to f&i i go!!!

Well, first of all those arent BattleMechs in that shooter, too small, they are ProtoMechs (Dreadnoughts if you are a 40K person) and second the source material I am referencing already has orbital drop-pods so yeah that would be awesome

In fact, a nice modified Dragoon with BattleMech DropPod bays instead of drone bays....

I think I had a small accident

EDIT: I suppose it would be derailing to make a list of BattleMechs that should be available to the different factions? Or which EvE factions translate into BattleTech factions best?

Trying to make EVE into Valkyrie would be exactly the same as expecting an aircraft carrier to drive and handle exactly like a jetski.

In EVE, you are the captain of a ship. You don't pilot it directly, you don't have a joystick in your hands. You simply command it to execute your orders.

EVE is also more aptly described as an RTS rather than a space shooter...

I will be playing Elite right alongside EVE, as well as Valkyrie. I don't see either replacing it.

If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all...

Same (without the Valkyrie, I hates Occ Rift before it was cool to do so), though I was very worried when I heard Braben say "fix all of the problems with EvE Online" and the fact that there was still not even a nod to Ian Bell. Maybe he just doesnt want anything to do with it, which is a shame, and what was wrong with Frontier.

But damn I want my Fer-De-Lance.

I'd quit.

Twitch gaming is only tolerable for small amounts of time.

The problem with twitch shooter MMOs (FPS or sims) is that hardware still can't handle more than a dozen players on the same map, so all those new games are instanced. Yuck.
So they can't redo EvE as a twitch shooter any time soon unless you're fine with camping the gate in instance 3 and have the hauler full of goodies pass through the same gate in instance 10 without a care in the world.

Sadly bandwith, processing power and memory requirements tend to increase exponentially with the number of players involved. I think i would eventually be fine with a hard limit of a few hundred players / map maybe if hardware permits it, but instancing puts me off a game.

While I'll agree with you, I also want to point out that some of the suppositions about the maneuverability of larger ships in EVE are a little off base.
Quite frankly even battleships in EVE are able to turn and position more readily than a bomber can in many flight sims, and people are perfectly fine with that. Only capitol ships really go beyond that point, but that's to be expected I think.

I'd walk away. I don't mind Valkyrie in the mix.. but I think it should be an atmospheric fighter pilot sim that lends to the current system not a replacement.

What eve 2.0 should be, is all the issues in EvE we currently have fixed. A rewrite of the code to kill lag and replace systems like sov and pos' with better ways to do stuff. Dust would be more intregrated with more interaction possibilities between the two games, Valkaryie would be integrated. WiS would come about and be working.

The point, imo, of an eve 2 is to make a game that has all types of play styles into one giant universe. The pod pilots are the immortals, we control space and claim area, dust merc are the boots on the ground, taking planets which gives eve players more advantages, and dust mercs could be used to take over stations and new pos'. Valkarie would be manned drones, people would fly from carriers in the middle of battle, the eve player would set the 'red' target and the valk would shoot it, they could also provide air support for dust. And finally, WiS would be the social aspect of eve, where after we beat the crap of eachother all 3 games could meet up for a beer at Reaper Bar in jita.

Ah.. would be amazing. But most likely not gonna happen

And eve as a flight sim like valk just would not work, there is another game being made with this feature, but it can't do a single server, so eve prolly can't either

I would probably ignore it since I do not own a PS4 and have no intention of buying a Facerift.
