Hello Capsuleers. We're looking into what small improvements we can make to the contract system to make it more useful and trustworthy. We would love to hear any feedback from you guys on this. We're most interested in suggestions for UI/usability improvements and comments on pain points you encounter in using the system. The more constructive the feedback is the better; 'Get rid of the scammers' is for example not particularly helpful.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Would it be possible to accept a contract from any region from any region?

filters and search function on the 'pick items' screen please

also make it a bit clearer which items are selected, the little checkbox is hard to see. highlight the row and allow us to sort by what's selected and what ain't

unless these features are already there and i'm an idiot Straight

Well if you aren't going to get rid of scammers, at least make it harder on them... aka not allow them to rename links to contracts to something that its not.

Scamming really isn't an issue, but could you please streamline the interface, especially the crazy number of windows and clicks one has to endure to finally finish a contract?

tab in the detail shows how much an item costs at the Market if they can be trade on it
eg ships with Fit

and some prices index for non-market stuff

Maybe having the hability to name a contract will be nice. For example, when I make dozens of contracts with pre-fitted ships form my corp, all contracts are named [Multiple Items]. It's boring, why shouldn't I be able to name it ?

I like this suggestion, but it could be taken further. Selecting items in the contract system is generally painful. Making this interface closer to that of the hangar while allowing the selection of item would be great (bigger icons, select multiple by dragging a box, better highlighting etc).

Personally I feel contracts are very clicky, I could do with less steps to create a contract. Is there any reason why step 2 and 3 in an item exchange is not one step?

Having a final preview of the contract is nice but often I just want to make contracts to characters I know or that are mine, skipping this step could be allowed by having another button for finalize contract in previous steps.

With all the nice new GUI updates the contract system is falling behind, using more elements that respond to user input (i.e change without having to press next, next, next would be nice).

Being able to create 'template contracts' that allow you to always use the same contract type and recipient (and possibly other options depending on the contract type) would be really nice for moving stuff between alts and frequently repeated courier contracts.

well since navy ships and navy items were added to market and that was the majority of contract work i see NO reason to improve this thing. unless you bring navy items off the market again and allow actual trading in the game instead of isk to item crap.

the only improvement i can see is when we select some items in our hanger to contract to a friend the process for getting them to our friend is ******** LONG. and goes through unnessicary process's.

it should just be simple like "select items>rightclick create contract to>_______>enter price or no price>finish.
SHOULD NOT go through hanger assets idk what the 3rd page is on contracting anymore.

I don't think that's desirable behavior. You can already accept personal contracts game-wide, which is desirable. But for public contracts, a sort of first come, first serve difference in regional incentives is a good thing.

I still miss loan contracts. They were useless to ensure you'd get paid back, and were garbage as public contracts, but it was a useful reminder if I loaned a corp mate a ship I might want back, or loaned someone some isk.

Personally, I avoid contracts. It's too difficult to tell if you're getting a good deal or getting ripped off. That's probably a big reason why some people like them, I'm sure, but I've only ever used them for finding uncommon items where it was worth my time to find a deal. Even more so since every last thing in the game was added to the market.

Maybe the market window should show the top 5 or so "best contracts" for any particular item, with customizable filters?

Ability to make Private contracts visible to Public; if you click on private contract between two parties it gives back error message at the moment; and it would not be default function but a possibility to show, for example, to corpmates what you bought/sold on contracts privately.

Contract duration longer than 2 weeks, suggestion would be 3 months, as maximum duration for sell orders in market; obvious reasons, often contracts are used as sell/buy order for unpacked items, such as fitted/rigged ships, laser crystals (can not be packed because of damage) and others.

When entering a contract description, there's a limit of 50 characters. The only way to know that you've exceeded this limit is to attempt to click through to page four of the dialog, whereupon it pops a modal up saying there's (e.g.) 54 of 50 characters entered. Could this information be provided inline, next to the description input box? Something like "50 of 50 characters remaining" or some such would probably work great.

e: Alternatively, could the description input box be capped at 50 characters and not allow any more characters to be typed? Naming ships works like this.

I don't think scamming is an issue or that it should not be tolerated, but on the other hand I don't understand how a contract in Eve could be "legal" if its confusing, like being able to rename the link.

Lets face it, not a lot of people fall for contract scam, but the only ONE chance of catching someone will make them spam like crazy. If there was zero chance at least Jita local would feel better :D

1) When copying corporate courier contracts, it should default to the hangar you used last (instead of forcing you to pick one, defaulting to "pick one" instead of any hangar at all).

2) When copying courier contracts, if it is possible to add the same items to the new contract as the old one, either because the stack already exists pre-made or you can break out another 90m trit from your 2.1b trit stack, it should do so automatically.

When you split a selected stack (courier or item exchange), the game currently thinks that the new smaller stack is the same size as the bigger stack. This is a particular problem with courier contracts where you have to keep the volume under a certain level.

Update the "base price" button to use your "market pricing" thing that's used for bounties and FW, and have courier contracts default to 150% collateral based on the 'market price' of everything in it. That's enough to make it pretty unlikely that the suggested collateral is badly off.

Here's a ship available on my corp contracts, I had to take two screenshots and stitch them together because there are so many entries: http://i.imgur.com/6ocGkKN.png

The information is being presented linearly and has minimal filtering going on to make sure the important things come to eye.
There are a couple things I would consider to improve this.
First, icons next to modules and ships might help.
Second, grouping identical items.
Third, identify containers that contain exactly the same items and group those too.

So a five pack of Atrons could be represented as

Fitted Atrons, Qty 5
Each of 5 contains:

Hull - Atron
Fitted Modules:
Light Neutron Blaster I x3
Each holds Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S x40
Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive
J5B Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
...
Cargohold:
Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S x1000
Antimatter Charge S x1000
Exotic Dancers x1

If you are looking for more dramatic ways to provide better 'information at a glance' (like I saw in the drafts of the new Reprocessing window):
- perhaps a hint if the estimated total value is more than an order of magnitude below (or above!) the contract price;
- perhaps (for ships) a fitting tree with icons and visible empty slots;
- perhaps a very obvious PAY THIS/GET THIS split on the same window;

I dont always use courier contracts butt when I do, I wish all the steps were on one page.

edits:
any that don't match (damage, unloaded guns, more charges, whatever) get separated into their own contract entry
damaged items could still be grouped with some attached damage note:
Light Neutron Blaster I x3 (Damage!) [ 0% 0% 20%]
if you use green/red highlights on the percents it would help hint at OK and damaged items in that group
