Faction Rigs!

Why not have faction rigs? They Could have T2 stats but with relaxed calibration points, mind you not T1 calibration but each one could be adjusted for a small fitting benefit. Example: Large energy collision accelerator has a calibration of 300 so say the same faction type would be "and this is just an example" 250 calibration.

I am lazy and did not search this topic so I cannot tell if this has been brought up before so in case it has please just ignore this.

Having only a very slight reduction in calibration would probably be the only circumstances under which I would be okay with this.

Not sure on the best way to source the bpcs.

If I recall they are talking about beefing up the loot tables for relic and data sites so they could just dump the bpc's in there if I was to guess.

Decent idea. I'd like to see other things implemented first. Data/Relic seems like a good fit for being able to find them as well.

relic sites currently drop me0 t2 rig bpcs, which can be very valuable. Faction rigs could go into both sites (data needs the love more by a LONG shot).

Maybe another idea would be to just make rogue drones have a faction variation of all rigs, and add them to the loot table of all drone sites.

I like the idea of faction rigs but maybe something a little different - just as an example (probably a bit silly) say

TransStellar Shipping Astronautic Rig:

Calibration -150
Warpspeed +15%
Cargo +20%
Armor -15%

That give 2 attributes but they sit somewhere around T1 or just above T1 level (or even lower depending on the power of the bonuses) and a slightly increased penalty and themed to some of the lesser used NPC factions. Combine with MissBehaving's idea I think it would be a good little content addition.

Combining attributes is an interesting idea, but you'd have to revisit the penalties and calibration costs pretty thoroughly. You might be able to make some interesting fits with such a rig...

perhaps just a small amount for each faction ..things that they would likely be better at than everyone else.

Amarr
laser rigs - higher bonuses than T2
armour rigs - higher HP amount than T2
armour rigs - lower mass penalty than T2

Gallente
Hybrid rigs - higher bonuses than T2
armour rigs - higher armour rep bonuses than T2
sensor dampening rigs - higher bonuses than T2

Caldari
ecm rigs - higher bonuses than T2
shield rigs - higher HP than T2
missile rigs - higher bonuses than T2

Minmatar
Target Painting rigs - higher bonuses than T2
Projectile rigs - higher bonuses than T2
Speed rigs - higher bonuses than T2

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

Indeed specifics would need some careful thinking out but it would make them a bit more attractive I think and hence even more of a driver for the related content.

Hell even dead space rigs would be awesome. Altering their bonuses, drawbacks and calibration would work and could allow for interesting fits so +1 from me.

+1 from me operator.Ican't think now the balanced stuff but in general I like the idea.In that way some lp stores might become better and have more missioners.

That isn't a bad idea at all to be honest. There are ships with the name Quafe so why not create rigs with the same faction name and set them as Officer Rigs.

t2 power with t1 calibration costs. rare enough to not completely obsolete t2. done.

I'll give it a +1 when someone comes up with a lore justification for pirates having the R&D for such rigs.

it would either have to be a amssive reduction in calibration, or it wouldnt make a difference, its not like fitting a ship where you have upwards of 8-18 slots to fill with modules of various fitting requirements. rigs only have 3 slots, and very few "sizes" of rigs (in reference to their calibration requirement).

I sort of like the idea of having faction rigs, but I think they should have bonuses that would only be useful to ships in a fleet...
