CCP Should really...

... just pod the armchair expert idiots that think just because they have administered three desktop PCs that are connected to each other AND have written a leet shell script - know exactly what CCP should really do. /breathe/

Seriously, the amount of people spewing silver bullet "solutions" as if no one has thought of their special solution is really irritating.

If you think of an obvious solution, that will be really easy to do and CCP's just lazy for not doing it then probably:

- CCP and 9/10ths of the playerbase have already thought of it and shot it down in flames because of serious flaws.

OR

- No, it's NOT that easy to implement , and even if they had people with your leet shell script writing skillz, they would still not be able to pull it off easily.

Learn one thing about life - EVERYTHING is probably much, much more complicated than you think. Especially if you are not an expert in that field.

IF you are an expert in that field (and it's not only YOU thinking that) then you will probably know enough to know that it's better to just shut up. Because what may take you seconds to blurt out on a forum, may take man-months to actually implement.

Stop believing what you see on TV on how easy it is to do stuff on computers. It's not nearly as easy.

/rant

Phew, now that that's off my chest - CCP, quick, fix lag. P

Agreed, but podding those idiots may be more complicated thing that you thought.

Plus people are allowed to express their opinions, moronic or not. It's up to you to use your own filters to determine what is worth reading and what isn't. Anything else is just a thinly veiled call for censorship.

Here's a tip: People will argue about absolutely everything and disagree about absolutely everything. I'm even here disagreeing with you about a fictional scenario where CCP can "pod" people to silence them.

Bad Messenger recieves official sense of humor badge :)

DeLaBlue.. I really wish that more people understood that. And it might be nice if those that just reject anything new because it doesn't match their specificly tailored "I win button" system should be having their camera drone replaced by a randomly fluctuating anomaly that either fries their ships systems or destroys their implants now and again. :)

Agreed.

"THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON AND IT SHOULD BE EASY TO JUST ALLOW FOR CHOICE ON THE {insert feature here}!"

shut up, you don't know how the game engine works therefore cannot tell CCP that there's no reason for the lack in choice.

Problem with here is that the core code in eve must be really horrible coded. My guess that this project started in somewhere late '90. Coding priciples back then werent as sofisticated as they are today, but looking at hassle with the tower fuel I guess they followed none. Nowadays interfaces is the word, modules have their implementation hidden and it can be freely changed as long as the interface remains the same (and of course the fuctionality with it, fuction return messages etc).
While changes like this (pos fuel) seems to be really hard to do, starting from scratch (tower code) must be lurking in CCP devs mind. atleast I hope so.

This is the bottom line why stuff isnt easy to implement...

You're absolutely right.

I'm sure a forum full of Internet spaceship nerds has absolutely no IT professionals of any kind posting informed opinions. I mean it's not as if CCP have actively recruited Devs from the playerbase or anything.

Now excuse me while I write a leet shell script that hides all terrible posting like this.

Hence the entire rewrite of eve, they used to add something intot he game and it break something entirely unrelated. Like oh say adding in a new ship broke the map.

Carbon project is almsot done so fixing things should be easier, harder still are the ways of going about it and predicting outcomes.

Dust 514's CPM 1 Iron Wolf Saber Eve mail me about Dust 514 issues.

I should apply to be a dev at Eve. My current job is full of spaghetti code, I've spent the better part of a year unraveling it. :D

Too bad NeXCarnapocalypse killed the jobs page.

It really was from the 90s...i think CCP was funded in 98 i think?

anyway that's what al this Carbon stuff is about. Remember the deployment of the Carbon UI that didn't change much but the shape of checkboxes and the capacitor and made T3 fly backwards? that was an underlying code rewrite they put in. It's probably a lot of a the reason why they were able to put in so many UI related cool things in Crucible in a fairly short amount of time.
