Fleshing out harvesting.

Just rolling about some ideas I've been thinking about. One of the things I notice as an industrialist is that a lot of the harvesting activities need a bit of filling out, they seem a bit incomplete. Besides asteroid mining, the other harvesting professions could use a little love, especially to introduce new players to them.

1) Asteroid mining. This really is the model that others should follow in terms of how it is set up. You can mine asteroids at a low level (mining laser and veldspar in high sec) all the way up to mining gangs in nul sec, branching into deep core mining, strip mining and compressing ore. Its a relatively large progression that gets more rewarding the more you put into it. So with that in mind we come to...

2) Gas cloud harvesting. There really needs to be some lower end content with this. The introduction of the Venture has been a good step, but there's a big jump one must make before getting into any activity. Gas clouds are pretty much the realm of WH space and null sec. It would be nice to see some sort of harvestable material in High sec and low sec, if only so new miners can get a taste of this path to see where it leads. There definitely still needs to be a more dedicated gas mining ship (T2 Venture?) since having one's related harvesting skill doesn't really pay off as much besides being able to use the T2 harvesters. Perhaps more skills that affect this harvesting? Definitely it cries for a low slot module that improves the harvest like mining and Ice mining have. Speaking of...

3) Ice mining. Again it would be nice to have wider options here. Perhaps a frig that can mine ice or smaller sized ice to also be seeded, with corespondingly less profit. Again, more a tool to introduce new players to the full range of harvesting possibilities, but also activity geared to newer smaller gangs.

One should say as well that for the above it would be nice to see Rigs that can be fitted to benefit them as well. Much like...

4) Salvaging. Salvage is reasonably fleshed out, though it would be nice to see a bit more on the low end. Not sure if its still intended that destroyers still fill out the role of good salvage ships. I like the salvage drones, a good improvement. Possibly another version of the Noctis? Differing types of metal scraps dropping might make it a bit more interesting, or salvage more specific to the type of ship destroyed.

5) Moon mining. As of yet, this is content only available to the high end, though it would be nice to open this up a bit, if anything to give players a taste of it. Perhaps a new deployable that can mine moons directly. Again this would be way less profitable than the current POS mining operations, but possibly open up operations on many of the unused moons, and even possibly high sec. I like the siphons as a bit of a method of opening this up. But there seems to be a lot of possibility unexplored here.

6) Planetary Interaction. Personally I like where this has gone, but it would be nice to see it a bit more tied together. Especially where PI materials are used elsewhere (for example what BPs they show up on) It would be nice for more skills. For example, a skill that reduces the expedited transfer cooldown, harvesting rates, manufacturing rates, etc.

Few people understand the psycology of a highway traffic cop. Your average speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow.

There are highsec gas sites. They contain the racial flavors of Mykoceresoin (or however it's spelled) That are used in the production of legal Synth boosters. They are not all that valuable, that is true. But that's more a side effect of the stigma surrounding booster use.

As for a dedicated ship... Venture is amazing. Really. If you ever tried to do large scale gas harvesting pre venture it was a pain. Big slow BS's fully fitted for cargo, yet only having like 60% of a Ventures capacity, and harvesting it even more slowly than the venture, while costing a few hundred mil instead of like 10 for a fully fitted t2 harvester venture. Plus slow as a whale, and no MWD/+2 warp core stav bonus. I for one don't think we need another gassing ship, and this is coming from somebody who has harvested gas in HIgh/Low/Null/WH's, reacted it, and made boosters/t3 components.

As to modules to increase the rate.. Eh. I don't see a huge reason not to, but it's also not something I think is especially needed.

I'd like to see moon mining rights awarded for S&I missions in hisec, an hour per tag, number of tags awarded depends on mission level.

I think if you upgrade the link between launchpad and storage your PI cooldown time will drop nicely
