Lame and broken

I currently don't live where bandwidth is very fast. So, I download via the game and it seems to be going well. It patches my client and then it says it fails, would I like to run the repair tool. I run the repair tool, which should be renamed to lets make it all unusable tool. Now I download the patch "evepremiumpatch306979-321452_m.exe", run it and it asks if I want to run the make it unusable tool, and I say yes and it suggests I download that same file and try again.

So, 2.4 gig in downloads on my 1mb connection on a good night, about 6.5 hours, and back to the it is all ****** up.

So what now? And don't say I have to download the whole 5.8 GB client. You know where you can put that file right?

Your so called repair tool needs some major help. I tried again and saw that it was failing on a file in res/audio named 594815345.ogg and it happened to be in my test server copy of eve, but not in my Tranquility copy of eve. So I copied it over and ran "evepremiumpatch306979-321452_m.exe" again and it seems to have worked.

The really lame thing is that it deletes that file, it is not even there after the patch, so on the first failed attempt it deleted it, failed to patch and then failed ever attempt after because the file it wanted to delete wasn't there.
WOW, no wonder Eve is buggy.

Might want to fix your fixing tool you tools.

4. My patch failed!

If your patch failed for some reason, you can run the repair tool with the following launch option:

repair.exe --buildno:306979

You can do this by creating a shortcut of the repair.exe file (found in your EVE folder) and opening the properties of the shortcut. Then add --buildno:306979 to the source path.

Well, at least you can get it downloaded. I'm watching my folks' dogs for them while they're on holiday (Bless working remotely Big smile) and with their rural broadband I've not been able to download yet. I get like 2KB then it fails. Normal connectivity seems okay, so I'm hoping it's just the servers being overloaded at the moment.

My client patched flawlessly, therefore your problems are insignificant and your whining pointless.

The repair tool is just running on my PC (install. failed with some OGG file as well). It downloads currently a 56 MB file. What horror do I have to expect now?

you are SO lucky you dont beta test the Star Wars MMO. Friday i was finaly able to join, but i had to redownload and install the whole 21GB patch TWICE. That took me an hour orso at 4.7mbps. Can you imagine how long it would have taken you? This patch was small change on my DL list lol

If you have a fairly up to date test server copy (like I had), then you can do what I did:
1. Start old Incarna copy and clear cache (maybe not needed, but just in case).
2. Make backup copy of old TQ installation.
3. Make a copy of your SISI (test server) client (I deleted TQ and copied it into the same folder as TQ was).
4. Use Launcher tool to launch game (not SISILauncher - new TQ launcher).
5. Patch for about 8mins on 1mbit line (I had to dl around 20MB of patch).
6. Run game.

Well, that is how it went for me here at the Southern tip of dark Africa on a 1mbit line Big smile

In fact, a corp mate copied over his SISI client and just launched the thing without the SISI shortcut (that points it to the test server) - no patching was needed (guess his SISI client was up to date).

YMMV, but worth a try if you have a slow connection.

Took about 6 mins for the patch to download for me. It took nearly 10 mins tho for it to actually apply the patch. I was thinking about raging on the forums cos it took 15 mins to get back in game Lol
