Truly excellent advice here.

I'll just add that, if you wanna learn pvp (especially solo) as quickly as possible, downloading a video-recording software like FRAPS can be very useful.

Frig fights are usually over in 30 seconds or less, it's really hard to understand wtf happened especially if your new! Big smile

Recording my fights and then playing them back in slow motion helped me a lot.

Spotting a mistake or a missed opportunity on your part will change your perception from 's**t I had no chance because of T1 gear/low SP/whatever' to 'hmm if I had done this differently I may have won...! cool, let's try it again!'.

This, plus the Log. The Log is buried in one of the menus - drag it out, put it in the neocom dock. Review after every fight.

That only count for people who post stupid things on the forums.

either your definition of 'stupid' includes anything that might offend other players or your statement is false.

I should buy an Ishtar.

It does.

As proper people just either know where to draw the line or take the consequences of their actions with pride.

I've offended people on the forums, I'm sure I did, and if that would end up with having consequences in game... So be it, I posted what I did and am very aware that some might want to get back at me for that.

If you are so affraid to offend someone that you must hide yourself behind an alt...why are you even posting in the first place.

I'm thinking of giving FW a go...what would be a good hi sec system to base out of for Amarr FW?

Don't know the Amarr/Minnie warzone, but I'd suggest you consider basing out of lowsec instead:

- Closer to the action
- Don't risk getting blapped by high/lowsec gatecamps every single time you need to reship
- Instead you can bring in bulk supplies just once every few days, just be careful (scout, friends, travel out of prime time, blockade runner or indy with mwd+cloak if you're still low on SP, etc.)

Don't I have to worry about being locked out of a station if the enemy captures the system? I'm going to have to pay someone (Black Frog?) to transport ships, won't I?

Yes... you do (or, if you gain militia friends, you can have them move stuff out via carriers before the system falls).

As I explained earlier in the thread...

- you can base out of a "backwater" system that sees little action or traffic. The benefits of this are that you won't run into [many] organized groups and [usually] only have to deal with plex farmers (who generally don't fight and can be easily chased off if you are persistent enough).
However, the pitfalls with this choice are that you will have limited back-up, [often] have to travel some distance to reach more "active" areas of the warzone, and won't be able to stand up to a concentrated effort by the enemy to take the system.

- you can base out of a "stronghold" system. These systems tend to be closer to the "focal points" of the war and so they see much more traffic, more organized forces, and face a bigger threat of being being made vulnerable.
However... such systems will also have much more back-up for you to draw from and are generally avoided by complex farmers due to the larger hostile (for them) presence.

Basically it's a "give and take" sort of thing. There is no "ideal" solution.

This ^^. I'll just add:

- Stronghold systems often have decent markets, you can buy your stuff on the spot. Prices are usually (but not always) significantly higher than highsec hubs, though. To save some ISK, you could limit your lowsec sourcing to ships (and T1s are relatively cheap even in lowsec), because modules/ammo/charges are much easier to haul in from highsec by yourself

- In the worst case, evacuating a lowsec station is annoying but easy. Even if you don't have friends or your corp helping you out, you can do it yourself on a neutral alt, hire Black Frog, or try putting up a public courier contract. If you're not in a player corp, you can also temporarily drop your main out of FW to get your stuff out. Remember, assets in a 'locked' station remain 100% yours, the only limitation in lowsec FW is that you can't dock an Amarr militia toon in a Minnie system and viceversa. You can still contract the stuff to an alt or a courier service.

- Joining a FW player corp is your best option overall. But if you want to try out FW on your own, as I said before you can easily drop in and out as much as you want (24h cooldown) from the NPC FW corp to make your highsec and hauling activites easier. If you don't care about the roleplaying aspect, you could even use this trick to temporarily access the 'enemy' militia's lowsec stations to buy stuff!
