As I see it, the fewer people, the more valuable each slave becomes. And the more valuable each slave becomes, the more effort expended to keep him or her alive. Consequently, the solution to slave death is fewer people. And the quickest way to fewer people is, well... more war!

116.03.03 23:30 Azarion Sinak 14 rescued

Somber services and grief rituals of many forms are being conducted these hours in all our Centers. As I am recording this entry while on patrol, I am having some of them broadcast FTL to my pod. We are sad.

In the midst of this sadness, we continue to celebrate each person we rescue.

116.03.04 13:45 20 rescued (sorry I didn't get the pilot name)
116.03.03 20:20 Sandra N 10 (Manwe's patrol)

Since we were in pod and on patrol at the same time, Manwe said that I should go ahead and register his report too. Hatred and fear are rife in our Cluster no more apparent than in the recent mass murder. When such a thing registers on the mind and emotions, a reaction is to reach out to someone near and embrace them and say to them, "you are my brother." We may not all be in the same place, but we hope for a day when such hatred is just gone and a distant memory of less evolved time.

116.03.04 22:35 10 rescued

These ten were rescued by another pilot and transferred to our care. We appreciate all the pilots who are active in the rescue of abandoned people in deathcans. For most of these pilots it involves going out of their way, taking risk along with their crew and being intentional about valuing the lives of the people involved.

So you "rescue" them, then chain them, collar them, beat them, stuff them full of a disease, then murder them yourself in a massive display of sacrifice to your God.

Do I have that about right?

I think if I was about to be "rescued" by you, I'd have rather died in the damn jetcan.

I whip them with the electric lash — not beat them — and watch them with Slaver Hounds. All slaves recovered in my Re-Enslavement operations thus far have been sold back into slavery, not sacrificed, although I am considering switching practice.

In other news, my associate Calyce Io has failed to produce any re-enslaved persons for several days. Perhaps the Disciples of Ston/Molok have been more active; may all those recovered by that wicked corporation glorify God in their eternal destruction.

116.03.05 12:20 - 25 slaves rescued.

They've been given food and medical aid where needed. I have transferred them to the Ardishapur Family, where they can be sorted and sent to responsible Holders and kept from the grasp of capricious capsuleers and commoners.

116.03.05 20:03 Githril noah 10 Slaves, 10 Elite Slaves, 10 Janitors

We were just on our way to a new job posting in Concord space... That's what group of janitors said that I picked up along Slaves and Elite slaves in transport with the same pilot. So often, it is just easier for pilots to select "jettison all" as opposed to figuring out what is legal vs what is contraband. The value of life doesn't seem to enter into the picture at all. To have one's soul disregarded in such a way is unnerving to non-slave "rescuees" in particular. We offer janitors better pay and good working conditions for as long as they want. These ten will be working for us and possibly training for other work in the future.

Faith in the Matriculation Center

There is a saying that there are no atheists in deathcans. This may be a truism of sorts but it is a short-sell of the more complex spirituality that we see formed and forming among those we rescue. Over the last couple years we have been able to make observations and see general patterns in what we would call the “unique monotheism” of the average rescued former slave.
These observations are not a promotion of any religion or faith; just observations that might be of interest to some. If there is a spirituality present among those we rescue it is most often monotheistic and either formed or partly formed by the Slaves’ exposure to the Amarr faith. Those who were at some point in their lives with a holder who inculcated a positive sense of devotion to deity and the practice of prayer find that faith present in the deathcan. Let me explain…

Many former slaves in the deathcan experience describe praying to God that their suffering might be seen by the Deity and that deliverance may be offered in His mercy. When deliverance comes there is a reinforcement that God has responded in mercy and that their suffering has brought the favor/grace of the Deity to bear upon their plight. Many former slaves have told us that they have been taught that in time, through the travails of their labor, service and struggle, that they may find both the path to God and their freedom. There is a translation of this that happens upon rescue and often forms the basis of an ongoing monotheistic religious practice.

The upshot of this is our observation that there is a subtle shift in the view of the Deity as one of judgment to one of responsive mercy. This evolution of monotheism is an interesting phenomenon and goes on to be formative in the Matriculants’ adaptation to life beyond slavery. Through education and social exposure as well as through access to religious services (Amarr and Other), Matriculants develop religiously along various paths. Atheism is rare but not unheard of. An altered monotheism as just described is common.

What also develops as what I might call a syncretized monotheistic spiritualism that comes from a well-established monotheism added to growing curiosity and learning about tribal spirituality after they have been rescued. In this way, Matriculants grow to own their own faith, develop their own practice, ritual and sacrament. Finally there are some who move away from theistic spirituality toward spiritism. What most delights me is that as the diversity develops an irenic spirit persists in the community as a whole. Perhaps it is this irenic spirit that can best teach us as capsuleers who are in such desperate need for peace.

The Disciples of Ston bid you peace

There shall be neither mercy, nor hope, nor forgiveness at the Judgement for matriculates of the Disciples of Ston.

They shall claim to be monotheists. Insufficient. They must be taught that the holy Amarr Empire is alone Chosen of God, charged with bringing the light of faith to the subhuman filth that abides under the wrath of God for the heresies and blasphemies of their forebearers. They must be permitted the Amarr faith and no other; they who turn to spiritualism, tribalism, and atheism must recant of their sins or be executed on the spot. They must be taught not to associate God with "freedom" and deliverance but with pain and servitude, for it is in these things that a man is brought closest to God.

And even were the Disciples of Ston to teach these things, they would still not spare their matriculates an eternity in Abaddon, for the Amarr faith demands not only intellectual assent to a set of propositions about God, but also a lifetime of service to one's lord, for as the Scriptures say, all must serve one higher. And because the matriculates are subhuman filth, they lack the birthright to Paradise that is God's gift to the Amarr, but instead must earn their way in by brutal subjection in slavery. Yet instead, the Disciples of Ston let their charges frolic amid the agro-domes of Gallente stations.

And so the matriculates of the Disciples of Ston shall be condemned to the Pit, where the pathetic wails of their misery shall waft on the smoke of their torment and reach Paradise — gleaming like the towers of Dam-Torsad — and none of us there, neither the Blessed nor the Serifim, shall feel a hint of a hint of sorrow, but shall instead sing, "O how you are just, O God, in your destruction of the Wicked." Amen. Amarr Victor.

Wrong, all people are my people. You are no longer worthy of my paradise though.

Ston has indicated that he believes that we have enough specific data on Agent Ananam Besuda with Joint Harvest to at least show a pattern of blatant disregard of Caldari law concerning the uses of slave labor within state territory. I have just sent my data to him and he will compile it together with what he has recorded. This will be sent to two capsuleers with close ties within the state who indicated that they will assist in getting this data to the attention of those proper state authorities. Both of us will continue to compile data as we interact with this and other agents. I have had less time recently to run distribution missions but with recent missions Ston has run, he has been able to intercept additional slave labor contracts.

In a week or so, I will likely be shifting duties while I catch up on administrative tasks in the Mandate and Republic. It is likely at that time that either Manwe or Ston will move into the Niarja corridor to patrol.

116.03.08 17:25 gEEkin Rollard 27 rescued, Ahrie Serine 50 rescued
116.03.08 23:32 Whyloginn Miromme 112 rescued

The Kaap Center received these 200+ Matriculants in healthy condition with a minimum of trauma considering how horrible a deathcan really is. From initial interviews, it appears that we were able to rescue them not too long after they were jettisoned. The longer the time spent in the deathcan, the worse the condition becomes. The more frequent the patrol cycle, the better.

116.03.09 13:04 Turbo Parmala 10 rescued
116.03.10 13:40 gedenktesterven 472 rescued

The third rescue was the largest since patrolling the Niarja corridor in the DSS Plowshare. With this many rescued, the crew of the Plowshare was put to the test. EMT's and trauma techs performed with excellence.

While we are very glad for any people rescue and treated humanely, we do share any confidence that slaves delivered (sold) into SCC controlled capsuleer markets including those that do not directly sell the same will avoid ending up in capricious capsuleer hands. We have found no mechanism of verification that slaves sold either to Ardishapur Family or Amarr Civil Service will not be in turn sold again through Civic Court markets. We have already learned that the SCC market rules are so liberal to allow a madman capsuleer to buy from the open market and turn around and mass exterminate the same. There simply is no safe alternative to taking personal responsibility for those we rescue. The capsuleer slave market is just that, a slave market.

That is why I turned them over to Ardishapur Family and not the Amarr Civil Service. The Amarr Civil Service has been accused recently of corruption and incompetence, and as both the ACS and Civic Court are central government organizations it is likely that one will feed into the other.

House Ardishapur, on the other hand, is the bastion of faith and tradition. It is against that faith and tradition to sell slaves to commoners. His Majesty The Heir Ardishapur and the Right Honorable Holders of Ardishapur holdings can be trusted to act as proper and ensure that slaves delivered into their care remain under the sole ownership of responsible Holders until the time that their lines are emancipated.

It is a shame that such a thing as the sale of slaves on public capsuleer markets like the SCC happens at all, and that it has allowed such tragedies as that performed by Nauplius. I pray that the Ministry of Internal Order and the Theology Council tighten policies to prevent such mishandling. The Civic Court should be ashamed of itself.
