Drone docking

Hello,

I see myself almost always forgetting to dock the drones. This has the disadvantage of losing drones, therefore precious ISK that for a new player is quite some amount. The worse is the time lost trying to fetch new drones, that sometimes are few jumps away from the home system...

My suggestion to mitigate this situation is to provide an auto-docking for drones when warping is triggered. The auto-docking could be active for idle drones.

This is already a thing. Your drones will already try to return when you start warping. If they're close enough, it might even work, but drones are frequently deployed far enough away that they can't make it back in time. On the other hand, if your drones are idle, they'll default to 'return and orbit', from which posture they should be able to make it back into the bay. Sentries are an exception, of course, since they can't move. You'll need to pay special attention to them regardless.

That said, if you mean that your drones should magically teleport back to your ship when you warp, instead of slowboating back, the answer is no. If you're in a position where you need to warp off, and your drones just can't make it back in time, too bad for you. If you're just too forgetful to recall them, too bad for you. You should need to pay just a little bit of attention to your drones, at least enough to push "Shift-R" shortly before warping.

Having to manage your drones, brings involvement.which is a good thing, and yes, i probably have hundreds of drones scattered across the universe.
It is also an income for some who scan them down and win them.
In fact being so annoyed at losing my first t2 drones and not being able to scan them down after buying and equipping a t1 exploration frigate, it encouraged me to train astrometrics skills so I could find them next time, and when that happened I must have collected 3 cargo holds full that day.
Now I live in a wormhole, and that might have never happened if I had not lost those drones, the beauty of eve is how initial annoyances opens doors to the future.
So theres good stuff involved as it is at the moment, train your scanning skills and have fun!

just get drones to warp with you like fighters do.

At least we can drag and drop on the Drone Window to order them to un/dock them, but yes warping drones would be hilerious.

Uhh no...
Drones need to die, consider them ammunition.

yeah so it makes more sense that drones warp with you, in that case. i mean... i don't have to recall my Void L to my cargo when i warp.

No, but you will need to buy new Void L now and then.

A Hobgoblin II or Hammerhead II costs less than half of a single Scorch L crystal so... yeah, looking at drones like some sort of ammunition is working quite fine.

In case you aren't following the conversation: drones are expendable, like ammo, and should not be considered durable in the same sense as your fittings are. You should expect to lose them regularly, and should not expect to warp around with drones out.

trying to draw parallels between apples and oranges isn't going to end well.

I'm going to bow out of this one.
