Corp Standings Loss per NPC corp player kill?

So I recently happened to look up my standings logs after some missions timed out and checked if it affected any of my standings, seeing as NPC corp standings for Jump Clones are plenty important as PvPer...

What I saw was THIS: http://i.imgur.com/pwISvMs.png

So I don't know if this is anything new as I don't regulary check my standings, but I think this is recent, otherwise my standings would be probably even more in the gutter.

After comparing this with alliance mates, it seems that we got all kinds of unknown standings losses due to common PvP kills, anywhere from as harmless as -2% - 12.5% for a ship loss up to 50% for some pods: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/633613/Jing/2014-02-20_0952.png

Also, this seems to be completely unrelated to the nature of the kill, no matter if its in high, low, a ship, pod, with or without limited engagement / suspect involved or even involving criminal timers. (corpmate told me he got the same issue by killing trade route gankers)

So this looks like a HUGE issue to me, seeing as it totally voids the various benefits you get from NPC corps if you are a PvPer as well as PvEr on the same character, like getting Jump Clone access, mission access, access to improved reprocessing or whatever... so what the hell is up with this and what is everyone's thoughts on this?

The oldest standings log like this I have is from the 8th December, so this is probably an issue introduced with the main Rubicon patch, though I never heard anyone mention anything like this before - after all who ever checks their standings logs?

ok , i just got one question

what does ccp want from this ? don't they intend us to shoot suspects and criminals ?
is this not put into the game for that reason ?
for example the can flippers or neutral logi's.

why do i get a punishment for doing what it is intended to ?

I've been losing standings with NPC corps for PVP kills as far back as I can remember, this isn't really new, although showing the % losses like that definately seems new. I'd have to login myself to check and it's also possible that was always there too I've just never paid that close of attention to it.

Brutor Tribe is an NPC corporation not a player. so nothing to do with PvP or criminal flags

Killing a main faction (Caldari, Amarr, Gallente, Minmitar) NPC trigger ship regularly nets a -2.4% standings in L3 missions, its why a lot of people refuse a mission unless its against pirate NPC's.

It's not inconceivable you might get a -8.0% for killing "the wrong" Brutor Tribe NPC rat (celestial agent? *shrug*). Although what a Brutor was doing in Caldari space... who knows.

I'm talking purely player characters here, I would have never seen a Imperial Academy rat in Amarr, even less giving me a 42% standings loss: http://i.imgur.com/lKLOjY9.png

This is my experience as well and I think I first noticed it about half a dozen years ago, because I just moved to nullsec at the time and podding people suddenly became an everyday occurrence, so the sudden drop was hard to miss. It's the reason my standings toward some NPC starter corps are firmly in the negative.

Whoa, this finally answers an age issue I had when I unexpectedly had starter corp standings fall like a rock for no apparent reason. Seems it's from killing players in those corps eh?

This is a documented phenomenon. Its stupid, and CCP has no intention to do anything about it. Kill enough scout alts in noobships and your standings with those corps tank.

Luckily, its not a big deal, because it only affects NPC corps rather than factions, and even then in only affects npcs corps taht players can join, which generally are not particularly important ones for standings/refining/trading.

I suppose if you pod a FW character in 0.0, it could cause you issues if you want to join FW later.

Too bad station sentries no longer engage, else people with too low npc standing for that corp would have gotten aggroed by default if hanging around said npc station.

It would be more interesting if you could choose which NPC corp you landed in. As it is, it's basically just arbitrary.
