Hi All,

So I have renewed my sub to Eve now that I actually have the time for it that it deserves/needs.

The character I have was a newly created one shortly before leaving so I know I have not done tons of stuff with him.

I do have a good few million ISK etc. and items from activities I did do with the new character before leaving as well as having most of the start out skills trained up to level 3 with a few injected extras too.

Now of coarse given that its a relatively short lived character I could start again and get to where I was pretty quick I reckon however it would seem a waste of the training done etc. and its always nice to get a head start.

In opting for this however I'm unsure as to what I've already done or were I'm heading. So I suppose my first question is to ask you if there is log/history of what missions I have done etc.

I believed I had done the agent missions that tutor you on military, exploration, business and industry however these seem to be available from the start?? Is this because they can become available again over time or had I missed them out?? I was sure I had not and I normally don't to be honest so would have been an odd move for me not to have done them.

The answer to this may affect if I start over or not so will leave my questions there till undoubtedly more prop up.

Although any tips/links to starters that are up to date are welcome :P

Thanks

There are twelve agents that offer the starting missions. Each lot can be done once but that may have been reset when the missions were changed a few expansions ago.

I would advice you to do them again as a refresher. The ones you remember will go by very quickly, and a few things have changed.

Once you've done those, try a few different things. Mine and also suicide gank a miner. Run missions and also scan down people's missions to mess with them. Try factional warfare. Shoot an autopiloting pod (illegally) in highsec and get CONCORDED. Try to scam people in trade hubs or mission hubs. Trade legitimately. Experiment until you find something fun.

Once you do, find a way to make ISK from it and you are golden.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

Thanks for the reply.

From what I can recall, and much has likely changed, my preference is or at least was combat driven.

All be it I'm noob right now I'm happy to take the knock downs to learn what needs to be learned from experience.

I think I may just start again to get some stuff refreshed as its amazing what little things you can forget that can be important.

As you say once the basics are down ill experiment a bit and see were I fit in but 'mainly' look at things that interest me personally as a player.

There seems plenty of paths to take along the steep learning curve but ultimately from what I've seen and read it can be rewarding.

I've always been interested in Eve and wanted to get more involved however time has often not allowed me to do so but hopefully now is the time to finally get going on this.

Thanks again

Hope you dont mind if i add my two cents, here..

If your main attraction is combat, there are two main ways of going about it: PvE (combat missioning), and PvP.

The missions can be very rewarding (in every sense) and give you a feeling of progression and accomplishment, as you will unlock more agents who give harder missions, and earn more ISK which buy you better ships.

If youre interested in PvP, i highly recommend Faction Warfare to get you started. Im sure you can find a corporation willing to assist and fleet up (if they dont find you, first). Its a sort of "Capture the Node" type of setup in certain systems of space. However, when you enlist in a militia, you become "flagged", if you will, for PvP vs. rival militias at any time.. in any space anywhere. You dont need to fly the big battleships at first, in fact, MOST fights you will engage in frigates or destroyers, possibly cruisers a little later. So dont feel bad to get your feet wet. Everybody gets blown up in FW sometime. Uhhhhmm.. it can also get expensive so have a way to get replacement ships on hand ( FW corps help a lot in that field).

"Experiment until you find something fun." Probably the best advice youll ever get in this game.

Feel free to Eve-mail if you have any questions..

Thanks Kai,

New character was created as you may notice, thought it best to do so to refresh.

PvP interests me but of coarse I'm going to ensure I understand a bit more first then learn the rest from jumping in so to speak.

I've been doing the training etc. and will be getting on with the epic mission arc.

I think to start ill try to master frigates as best as I can and see how that goes.

From what I read you can still achieve quiet a bit in most ships with the right setup and when used correctly.

I'm well aware I'm likely to get owned at some points and should be ready to loose some kit and be spending some cash but I'm certainly not going to try and run before I can walk or waste money on anything too fancy or more importantly too expensive to lose.

There is certainly no shortage of helpers in the game and on here some I know were to go if need help with something I can find out on some of the help sites etc

No worries, man.

sounds like your got your head on straight and a path set out ahead of you! And again, hit me up or any member of our corp if you need anything.

Best of luck to you, fly safe, fly paranoid, and fly armed!Twisted

I second this advice, it's spot on. You gotta try it all to figure out what you like doing best. Give it a bit of time and be patient, but when you find the right activity for you it'll pop out and you'll be engrossed. Good luck in your ventures (not the ship).
