I have not played for 6 years and by NO MEANS do i consider myself an experienced player. I will be listing some of the biggest changes that I have noticed from when I had last played in comparison to this past weeks gameplay.

1. Removed, i was mistaken

2. Mining Ships - My poor mining ship. I once had 3 mining lasers on my osprey, but when I logged into the game, it forced me to take two off before I could undock.

3. JUKEBOX - This was without a doubt one of my FAVORITE things about this game... but now it is gone. After all these years, i still remember my favorite song "Below The Asteroids." But have yet to hear it again since playing.

4. PvP in high sec? - (see note at end for funny bonus story) Back in the day I NEVER heard anything about people being killed in high sec... But now Ive learned that such a thing exists. Evidently people will scan the system and if a player is carrying good stuff, a player will suicide on him and his friend will pick up all the loot... Sounds like a lame feature for new players just starting out.

5. SKILL QUEUE - Did not exist before. I kind of like the idea of not having to be online to train all of your skills you wanted after another skill was complete.

6. PLEX - There were ways for people to buy plex for real money on the forums, but now there is an item in game that can be purchased (game time PLEX)? I love the idea.

I want to personally thank the CCP for giving me sufficient amount of game time to see if I want to come back. I purchased a plex and will be resubbing when my free period is up. I also have some friends coming to join me!

(Bonus story time - How do I know about #4? Well, my friend who JUST started had purchased a plex and later realised that JITA was the main trading hub. So he decided to fly with the plex in his small ship to JITA to sell it. This resulted in him being blown to bits and the other guys friend robbed him of it, haha... I guess this is a story he will never forget)

i don't know what to think if you never heard of people being killed in highsec before numerous concord buffs

1a. Can another old vet confirm this? For some reason I don't quite believe it.

2a. I'm going to assume you are from a time where mining battleships were the norm. There is now a dedicated mining frigate and a series of mining barges (cruiser class)... along with Tech 2 variants of the latter. They each have a different flavor and can all mine far more efficiently than your average mining battleship.

3a. (obligatory "EVE has sound" joke here) Also... it has already answered above. You can play them for free from Soundcloud.

4a. PvP has been in high-sec since the beginning. In fact... it has been heavily nerfed over the last few years (with CONCORD buffs, insurance nerfs, security status penalties, etc). The only reason you see more people both doing it and complaining about it is because there are simply more people around... and the reason it is kept around is because there needs to be SOME risk in high-sec space (which, arguably, there isn't enough of).

5a. This happened right before I joined some 5 years ago. You can stack up to 24 hours of skills within it and/or one skill that exceeds the limit.

6a. This also happened around the same time I joined. It's meant primarily to combat RMT as well as offer a way for players to value their gametime (because a player who buys PLEX and sells it in-game is, in essence, paying for another person's game time in exchange for ISK).

Last note; the game has changed radically in 6+ years... both in mechanics and in gameplay. Accept that some things will be to your liking and that others things will annoy you... if you adapt to the latter and/or take it in stride you can go far and make your time in EVE great.

I have been around since 2006 and I don't recall having to buy a new skill book for each level of the skill. But yeah, all the other things are new things. Welcome back.

Bullcrap. There was always suicide ganking in CONCORD space and newer players can group up and gank ships for profits way beyond what they could make anyway else. New players have no advantage from being protected.

bingo, his pig not being a goat doesn't make the pig wrong, just him an idiot for shouting at his pig "WHY ARENT YOU A GOAT!" (Source)

New players generally don't have anything worth ganking them for unless they're carrying PLEX, so they don't have to worry about this.

PLEX hasn't been around for 6 years. GTC yes, but not PLEX.

I can confirm that nothing is wrong with this one, it's working as INTENDED. It's a great feature for new players just starting out to teach them how NOT to play this game and what are the consequences when they AFK. i.e autopilot, mission, mine.

To misquote CCP Karkur, "the jukebox isn't coming back, you should probably move on with your life." But now days we have Pandora. Create a channel seeded with Vangellis and have never ending space music.

Being ganked 3 weeks into the game and loosing almost all I had was a revelation to me. Its what showed me Eve was unlike any other game. I doubt I would have made it to month 2 without that experience. So hisec ganking, working as intended.
