We have not had any luck in reproing this, but we have a patch going out tomorrow where we have at least an attempted fix.

I've gone through all changes to the graphics engine that went out in the patch that seems to have triggered the black screen on character select, and we're basically reverting those changes when running on a Mac. We're grasping at straws here, but I feel we have to try something.

Sorry, something went wrong in prepping the patch, it will be delayed until tomorrow. I'm hoping to get the build out on a test server today so we can at least see if the code change helps - check back later for details.

Oh Snooooorlax, I've got a present! ( If it actually contains anything useful! ) I've managed to get apitrace's of the crash (5 times over to be sure). So I've got every GL call EVE makes up until boom.

Now these are huge - the replayable traces are about a gig, and the text dumps about 100 megs. Hopefully, replaying the dump with apitrace will trigger the bug again. Instant repo. Not tried that yet, was assuming my only test case was about to get patched out of existance!

You'll need to get me an email address, or better, some space on a server I can upload them to if you want them.

Just to ask, is anybody running EVE at their normal monitor resolution?
Or do you have a second display connected to your mac at all?

I'm running it on an external display at 1920 x 1080. Always worked fine, before this problem.

I run eve in windowed mode at normal screen resolution. Sometimes there is another screen connected (just because I happen to have it) but I do not put eve on it. (It was a hand-me down, and although physically larger than the screen on my MBP, smaller in pixels.)

I also run eve via clones, but I have tested it running off the main install.

However, I do not have any of these issues. For me eve has been playing very very well for the last several weeks. Even when testing off the main install.

You are just lucky P

But on the "Flicker crash issue thread" on the other forum thread of the constant freeze up flickers, I'm running normal screen resolution at windowed mode.

Still having this issue as well after DLing patch this morning.

What I really don't understand is why I could be having the issue on 2 of 3 accounts. How does it know which accounts to eff up on? Why did it pick my main pvp and industry accounts and not my prober alts account??

Is this a plot by CCP to get me off the top if the Tuskers killboard?? :o (jk)

Those of you with a second screen attached, just for an attempt could you please disconnect the display and try just on the one screen?
Also, do you have anything else running while playing EVE? Internet browser, viewing videos, or something else?
If you do, try closing all applications down and just try EVE.

I am reproducing some things right now, and anymore information would be handy to have.

For the Frequently freezing up part. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=318689 (Flicker crashes)

I have Firefox running every time I crashed but I doubt it has to do with it. If so, I'm running no other applications, only EVE.

However, I obtain this crash when many ships are in space at one time, for example being on the Amarr undock crashes the client always within a minute. Try it by moving around the camera at the populated Amarr undock and see if it produces the flicker crash.

Don't doubt, Firefox and all modern browsers use hardware acceleration. If you're experiencing the issues you've detailed, I'm sure you would try anything to get it back to normal.
We're still investigating all the avenues we can find for this issue, so that's why we're looking at the general environment you're playing EVE in.

Its not just Firefox. I had Eve up for an hour this morning with Firefox running as well with no issue. The traffic at the Jita undock was also not an issue (although I was there for just a few seconds.) Having Firefox running may be required to see this bug, but its not sufficient. Something else is happening on top of it.

Firefox didn't cause the issue, I recieved a flicker crash within 30 seconds of entering EVE without firefox.

The crash is generated with any settings set, I've tried effects off and so on etc. My screen is windowed.

Console doesn't generate anything at all during the flicker crash.

Tried without second screen, exactly same problem.

Also tried right after booting macbook, with eve client first thing to be launched, same result. Actually the crash dumps I submitted with the bug report are from such a clean start attempt.

Removing the second monitor ( which is the secondary monitor ) makes no difference. Same lockup and driver crash.
