I decided to do some high-sec exploration to see how many ghost sites I might find. My thought was to do a kind of blitz. Just move quickly from system to system, looking only for ghost sites.

I just couldn't not know what the sigs were. What if one of them was a good or fun site? So, of course, I scanned 'em down.

I visited 29 different systems. Nineteen of them were 0.5. Nine of them were 0.6. One 0.7.

I found ONE ghost site. Previously, in high sec, without trying, I have found a grand total of 2 ghost sites. Only one in low sec, but then I have never looked hard for them in low sec.

Seven systems had no sigs. Otherwise, I found 17 wormholes, 20 combat sites, 2 relic, and 1 data.

There were quite a few anomaly belts. I almost typed hidden belts. Anomaly belts, that is what I am calling them. I scoped out a few and always find it amusing how they are cherry-picked. A Jaspet, Kenite, Omber belt will have no Jaspet left but will have Kernite and Omber. But then a Kernite, Omber belt will have Omber but no Kernite!

When I start an anomaly belt, I prefer to pop it. EVE is about accomplishment, I don't like leaving things undone.

Interesting. So, how exactly does one "find" ghost sites without being in a system to see if they're there or not?

Yes, I also would like to know about this secret way to find ghost sites without actually traveling into different systems.


To the OP, Ghost Sites are a rare random spawn. You'll probably have better luck finding them in secluded dead-end areas that aren't visited much.

there is no system to find them other than traveling alot. Also Ghost sites are not that profitable.You find blueprints, but they are not much worth, unless those found in null and WH which even then rarely drop good blueprints ( i have found about 10 ghost sites in null and only 1 dropped yurt mobile depo ).

I saw the advertisement and thought they might be interesting and profitable. From the OP's description they are neither.

Maybe one day CCP will add some interesting PVE content that is profitable.

You visit way more than 29 systems. If you stop to smell the flowers, you'll spend more time smelling the flowers than actually finding sites.

Get yourself a 10.5 au/s tengu, or a nullfied 6.5au/s one, then burn sky till you see lines. You'll average 2-3 per hour or better. Once you get good, you'll find the absolute worst null ghost site will net 15m, and most will yield 30m without any notable drops. Now that the PI markets for the implant materials are stable, building them to sell isn't such a financial risk. Here are rough BPC values based on production cost and current minimum sell in Jita. As they are low volume items, you'll probably want to mark them down significantly to sell them.

Low/Null
LG Omega - Worthless
Ascendancy Alpha - 26m
Ascendancy Beta - 25m
Wetu - 19m (also from WH)
Null/WH
Ascendancy Gamma - 91m
Ascendancy Delta - 208m
Ascendancy Epsilon - 292m
Yurt - 186m
WH Only
Ascendancy Omega - 1.86 bn

Ghost sites are not SP intensive, they don't require an expensive ship. You don't need to fiddle with probes, and you can log on, log off, go afk, whatever, pretty much at will, which you can't say about many isk-making activities. They require slightly more attention than mining.

In my experience with them the ones in high sec and the couple I've found in low aren't profitable at all for me *up to this point*. Best drop was an Ascendancy blueprint, which costs WAY too much to build and sells for WAY below manufacture costs.

If I see one and I'm in a ship capable of doing them sure, I'll check it out. But I'm not hunting for them. Running anoms pays much better for me personally.

I think his point by "29 systems is doing it wrong" was "you should have hit 50+", not "you should have hit 1".

Ghost sites appear on our Dscan as anoms, not cosmics. That means you don't even need to launch probes.
Jump in, check Dscan. No Ghost site? Move on to the next gate.

EDIT :

I haven't really been looking for them and for the record I've only seen 4 Ghost Sites so far, 3 of them I completed with a friend which is posted here.

Just have to keep moving around and check each systems anomalies.

If you thought that from my first post then my second post should have cleared it up. There's nothing magic about it, you have to visit a lot of systems.
