This is how I plan to get high standing with the four main factions.

According to the derived standings modifier on the eve wiki I should be able to do this.

Run L4 Ammatar Mandate missions avoiding kill missions whit have the following effects
+7.2 Amarr Empire +3.2 Caldari -1.6 Gallente Federation -2.4 Minmatar Republic

Then run L4 Minmitar Missions avoiding kill missions whitch will have the following effects
-5.0 Amarr Empire -2.0 Caldari +8.0 Gallente Federation +10.0 Minmatar Republic

I was going to run SOE missions instead of Minmatar Republic but I would not come out ahead on the Minmatar Republic standings due to the following

-0.6 Amarr Empire -0.15 Caldari +4.8 Gallente Federation +1.5 Minmatar Republic

However if I run twice or three times the amount of missions with SOE then what I do with Ammatar Mandate I should come out ahead still.

am I doing this correct or have I got it all wrong?

I am taking all this information from the derived standings I am hoping thats correct!

Thanks in advanced.

keep in mind that the higher your standings are, the slower they rise, and the harder a negative hit will affect them. That said you should be able to get them all positive. It is best if you supplement this by running missions for the 4 empire corps that will give you access to their epic arc, as it is a large faction standings boost without any negative derived modifications.

Or you can just pay a bunch of money for tags and cosmos items or something.

Never forget.

You are doing it correct. If you want the standings with all 4 factions then:

Run missions for your current lowest standing faction until they are no longer the lowest.
Run the COSMOS missions to start you off
Epic Arc when possible.
Remember that for example Amarr will boost Caldari than Caldari will Amarr etc.
And the obvious don't take missions against other factions.

I've got them all high now by doing that.

You could run for interbus, I don't believe that they will affect your empire standings. Of course this is unresearched and off the hip. I've been wrong before.

the standings gains are so miniscule that it might take you forever to complete it.

don't forget that derived standings gains and losses are limited by the faction's actual standing to the other entity. If a faction's standing to another faction is 5.0, you could raise standing up to 5.0, but would get no further benefit from derived standings.

Instead of grinding a bunch of regular missions to get Storyline offers, you could just work the various Event Agents listed in 'The Plan'.

On a side note :
The Interbus doesn't have any Storyline Agents or LP store due to being positive with all Empire Factions. As such no Faction standing gain or loss is incurred while running their missions. The Interbus is more or less a retirement corp. Capsuleers can continue running missions without having to watch or worry about their standings.

Inter-bus do not have storlyline agents. Thank you anyway.

p.s only realized this after grinding to level 3 missions and wondering why I haven't got a story-line.

Back in the day (when I ran missions), I did this … after some tedious resurrection of my dismal amarr faction standing. Then I moved on to also want to play with pirate faction missions.

In the end I found keeping all factions loving me was just too tedious. As an alternative I worked-up several corps within each faction to a high level and operated thereafter primarily on corp standings … mindful to keep an eye on faction standings and not let them get down to -2.0.

I focussed on each navy, each corp that lead into an epic arc, and others (e.g. SoE) that I kinda liked for whatever reasons I had at that time.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

I've done something similar. I worked on getting 8+ standings with corporations with lots of med clone facilities, some r&d corps (oh how i miss datacore farming), and with the epic arc agent corporations. I haven't ever done the pirate factions, but looking at the epic arc guides, you get the necessary standings for the pirate arc starting agent corporations during the epic arcs (Min/Amarr for angel, gal/cal for Guristas). So it should be easy to get right into them.

For the most part, faction standings aren't really all that useful. POS anchoring and a wider initial selection of possible agents to work for. The main useful thing isn't actually used to its fullest by most players and that's the tax calculation for trading.
