Self Destruct

There was a time when people would self destruct their ships to avoid embarrassing lossmails. This was quite rightly removed so people could not avoid this. However at the same time they removed the self destruct's ability to destroy all modules within.

I would like to see the ability for self destruct to destroy all modules and things contained within the ship return. Give the possibility of a scorched earth policy. I do NOT advocate a return to the using self destruct to avoid km's.

This is balanced as it introduces a decision. if you blow your ship up it's still lost but you may have survived to receive help, you may not. But you can deny your enemy those tasty faction eanm's you fitted.

Thoughts?

If you're not being shot at you could always unfit your ship in a mobile depot, put it all in a can and kill the can. However if you're trying to deprive people of nice loots, shame on you.

Only if the self-destruct has a timer of at least a minute and, during the last 30 seconds, it can not be canceled. That way when someone triggers it at the wrong time and still wins the fight, they get punished for their poor judgement.

Oh, and the killmail still goes out to whoever they were fighting.

I think if your opponent managed to "win" he should be rewarded. Besides embarrassing lossmails are just part of EVE. If you get one just take it with smile and move on because I bet in few days none will remember it anyway. Bear

signed,
I think it makes sense, since activating self destruct is a controlled destruction of the ship and should work as destructive as it was designed to be.

When a ship self destructs, the killmail goes out as normal, but no modules drop. That way one is actually able to see on the killmail when somebody was a coward to self destruct his ship.

Some interesting comments should come from this.

If you read my post properly you will see that I said killmail still goes as normal. But since nothing drops it will be obvious that they cowarded out/denied goodies. Depends on viewpoint.

Agreed with OP's idea.

No need to tweak self destruct any more than that. Just remove the loot that drops from it, so that it is something meaningful to do.
