What if we removed jump drives from the game?

I was thinking about force projecting and the ability to defend areas. In normal games choke points make a big deal in defending places. But current tactics in eve are form up a fleet in 5 minutes and go across the galaxy in 13½ minutes all because of cynos you setup beforehand and have logged off. While I do like the ability of force projection and being able to make your own back door, part of me doesn't.

What if capitals all took gates, or maybe be able to jump 3 gates at a time (or some weird mechanic like it), but that's it. this would change game tactics a lot, and i mean a metric gigatonne (10^9 tonnes). people would actually be defending places with gate camps and not just for kills, but for an actual reason. yes gate camps are boring, but often are of little to no strategic value due to the ability to ninja a cyno past it.

But there is a problem, what about bubbles on gates in null-sec? i mean, flying a dread off grid is not fun nor a good idea, seeing as they wouldn't be able to track the bubbles (i am in no way serious about this).

My image, is a heavy fleet of sub-capitals and capitals jumping through a gate and burning out of bubbles while shooting everything in sight, while trying to warp out to get to the objective. Making it so dreads have better tracking and better overall capital mobility, which would be negated when they commit via siege and triage (or deploy fighters/drones type siege module).

I can't even say how many previous same threads there are regarding this "issue" and the countless reasons why this is a bad idea.

Not talking about HED-GP at all, i didn't take part and i wouldn't be dumb enough to jump into tidi unless i am on the side that is winning.

TiDi i think helped eve a lot and i like the mechanic as workaround for an issue with code and hardware limitations. I mean, if you want to put a 10 year old car engine in an Abrams tank and getting the tank to move, good luck.

I am just thinking about how cool a different approach to mechanics. but if you think i am talking about tidi and cyno and such, then why would i post this, instead of jumping into a random location in the system, the invaders would have to enter one of two areas for hed-gp. this is a strategic game changing idea.

i am not saying form up 250 people in 5 minutes, i know that takes time, but it takes 5 minutes for a skype message "get in dreads and get in fleet, fight going down, XXXX will provide cyno chain". This of course was the battle of Asakai.

Granted if jump drives were removed from the game, things like asakai would not happen.

Don't remove freaking jump drives, that's just boring.

Decrease max jump range and up the fuell needed, make it harder to project force over significant distances.

Remove jump drives, let all ships use gates, and buy scuba lessons.

Move all Lvl 4's to lowsex, Move all research agents to "Rancer" and move all station manufacturing to "Amamake"......that should cure you're infliction with assburgers.

Better yet!

What if we added a civilian cyno gen and civilian covert cyno gen, and we allowed jump freighters and black ops to move around hisec at will and for the black ops to be able to use a covert jump bridge to hisec at will.
